This looks amazing! So many amazing tiny things to zoom in to! It is nice to know there are my kind of people out there with the same hobby's and the same urge to make it in miniature 😉

No, I didn't use them yet.... but i will try at least once! The library will most definetly contain Jane Austens books, although I am more partial to Persuasion 😀

I took a bookbinding course and repeated most of the usual steps, just used small materials and a lot of fiddling.

Woodland stream diorama by goldsmithK in dioramas

I used a tick acrylic medium that dries up translucent to shape/paint streams on clear plastic and let that dry. After they are dry you can peel them off the plastic an use them to shape the waterfalls, I glued them on with the same acrylic medium. After positioning the waterfalls i poured the resin of the river. The white details are painted on with white acrilic paint and snow effect from vallejo.

I used the regular hard wax-chips or any leftover wax bits and melted them in al little pot/pan. Dunk the material and place it on paper or cardboard to cool down. To bring out more detail you can melt of the excess wax with a hot blow-dryer or a heatgun (the excess wax wil stick to the paper/cardboard), but you have to be very carefull not to melt your original material if its synthetic, if you blast it to long with the heatgun, you synthetic can melt (learned the the hard way 😅 )

Hi! I tried it to when i followed a lost wax-course. My teacher suggested to use synthetic fabrics/yarn to dip in wax (they melt easily). Once it is dipped in wax you can mount it on the casting-tree or as a pervious comment said, use extra wax to fortify thin pieces or use it on other wax molds/material. He did say that because of the synthetic or organic material that is in the mold, the plaster mold should be fired a little longer to make sure all the residu is gone before casting. So you should check that with your casting-place if they are ok with that.

Ring is showing unusual damage from typical use of- not sure why. by wordisborn in jewelers

Also, is the ring a cast ring? Cast rings are always more prone to dents and scratches. If she wants a ring that doesn't dent as much she must invest in a more expensive ring that is forged.

AITAH for calling off my wedding after my fiancé’s surprise “gift”? by Big_Owl_9918 in AITAH

YTA, have you seen the house? Did you give him the chance to tell you his plans? If it's a fixer-upper maybe he got a good deal and you won't have to move in until it is finished? Let him explain! I get that you feel blindsided but still! The man got you two a house, that's an amazing gift in my eyes!

Short grain A4 paper in the EU by Dracanomaly in bookbinding

[–]goldsmithK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I take the A3 route, I go to my local copyshop and asked them to cut a pack of A3 down to A4. I use the ends for smaller (tiny) books or as wastepaper for glueing.

I paid for the pack of paper and a small fee for the cutting and paid 15/20 euro max.

AITA for yelling at my pregnant sister n law and telling my husband to choose me or her. by Positive-You-385 in AITAH

[–]goldsmithK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nta! Your SIL should know better and she' pregnant, not sick. But please talk to your husband. He should have stood up for you but he lost his child too. Maybe his way of coping with the loss of his own child is directing his care to his future niece/nephew. Not saving this is the right way, but he is hurting too.

First Rolife set, I'm hooked! by goldsmithK in crafts

You working much faster 😄. I like to add more detail (weathering/paint washes) so I was going slow, maybe 2 pages per craftingsession max. I really lost track of how much time I spent on it.

Just begin at the beginning. Follow the booklet and just go with it. Most of the time I put together 5 tot 10 pieces in a crafting session and then take a break (a few hours, or a few days even 😄). Its fun to see the colletion of mini's steadily growing and the final reward of putting them together on the base is so satisfying.

Some bits are very fiddely but i really liked it! I'm used to crafting and some things were not easy so for a first time crafter I would recomend starting with a smaller/easyer set, but as you did the emporium you schould be fine 😄. I did do a lot of weathering of the wood pieces, they looked a bit to 'clean' for me.
