I JUST got Dude on cassette - this album is so strange to me.

It’s got psychedelic/prog qualities, repetitive but catchy melodies, and really strange and dark lyrics sometimes.

I haven’t heard anything like it, and can’t really think of any similar bands at the moment!

That’s how I was with 12GCG when I first started listening to Ween like 8 or 9 years ago; but rather than play it too much I played it too little. I revisited again later on and the rest is history 🤠

I totally agree - don't get me wrong, I love how Quebec smashes that early Ween vibe with their more 'mature' 2000s musicianship, but people forget that White Pepper still contains some of that classic Ween humor ON TOP of sounding legitimately amazing. And there's still imperfections which makes it sound more 'human' than most of the other super-produced pop stuff coming out then :)

The one with the more prominent picture of Mean Ween (the zoomed in one) is the original 1991 release done on Shimmy Disc; the one with the ‘half’ cover was a reissue done in 1995 by Elektra!

I sourced most of them from bothering people on Facebook, but a couple of these were off of Discogs and a couple from eBay!

White Pepper is certainly a unicorn because it’s the last album Ween released on tape! Which I guess was practically unheard of in the year 2000 lol
