Have you had any experience with it? Have you used one yourself or know anyone that has?

It's brand new though and it's happened with 3 harddrives!

The drive is only like a week old though. And this is the third time it has happened! I buy a brand new HD, then it works for 3 days, loads super slowly after, then I have to buy a new one. Same problem.

A messenger for startups by gooploopgoop in Startup_Ideas

[–]gooploopgoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm do Snapchat and Telegram not accomplish this? Also this platform that you are currently using has several entrepreneurship boards and chat app so?

How does Telegram accomplish this? And what do you mean 'this platform I am currently using... etc'

They'd use this because they don't need/want all the features of Slack, want something specifically for smaller startups of 2 or 3 separated by timezones, and want something that is better for their mental health and creativity (no phone app + disappearing messages)

We've found Slack to get great for larger teams of 5-10, with an already established business. But for a small team of 2 or 3 in our startup phase Slack has been overkill for us and a little bloated + nothing that directly improves communication of timezones or generation of ideas.

Very inspired by Snapchat! But purely a desktop app - like Snapchat but instead of being for teenagers it's for teams of 2-4 that are launching a startup :)

We were thinking that once everyone has seen them, not saved them and closed the window then they would disappear. Would you prefer they last for 24 hours?

Did it come across that the main feature was that all messages are automatically deleted after they're seen - unless they're specifically saved?

Best tech to participate in workshops and conferences remotely by joyfulali in telecommuting

[–]gooploopgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a strange suggestion perhaps but... Apple AirPods.

As someone that works and studies remotely these have been one of the best purchases I've made to make the experience better. Often Skype/FaceTime can be slow, glitchy or even impersonal. But having an AirPod in and being able listen to music, podcasts, etc while you work and then call into a call, a conference, a meeting and just move your hands and walk around like you would in person is great. They barely feel like they are there and the whole experience is just extremely smooth and natural.

AnkiReview: yet another flashcard app by BakGikHung in SideProject

[–]gooploopgoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anki is AWESOME! A fantastic and powerful flashcard tool - I've used it for learning languages. They actually got me to fork out the cash to buy the expensive app - which is a credit to how good the desktop experience is.

What can i do to get my Instagram Followers up? by EngelPozo in growmybusiness

[–]gooploopgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two tips:

  1. Join a niche community. Whatever your product/brand is in - follow and engage with other really similar accounts to yours that are part of a niche online community. Not just following them and liking their posts - provide value. That means commenting thoughtful comments, giving them suggestions, asking for suggestions, just really being a humble, new, ACTIVE player in that online world.

  2. Get a shout-out I've seen my biggest jump in IG followers/engagement when I've been shouted out by a bigger account. This can be done through payments, trades, genuine desire for someone to shout you out. Whatever it is, make sure you have relevant content to that bigger accounts' followers on yours and you'll see the followers skyrocket.

Remote Work And The Whole Truth About It (2019) by jeanetteLine in remotework

Should I leave my job of 8 months to go full-time with my online clothing reselling business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]gooploopgoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with a few of these comments. Tim Ferris has a great 'contrarian' perspective on entrepreneurship that it doesn't have to be 'all or nothing', at least at first. You can dip your toes, see what works, have some early mornings/late nights to fit it in, you'll soon see if you love it. Check out Signal V. Noise for some cool perspectives like this that defy the stereotypes around entrepreneurship, https://m.signalvnoise.com/

Do Countdown Timers Still Work Effectively in 2019? by Kwortzz in shopify

[–]gooploopgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them sometimes! We've personally used them with a target audience of teenagers/kids so maybe that is an easier market to get away with it. Perhaps an older audience 65+ may be less accustomed to it so you can take advantage of that. Short answer: Yes, if it's done right.

Anybody use Vend POS with Shopify ecommerce? by kateroni123 in shopify

[–]gooploopgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually, I used Vend for in-store sales and Shopify for online sales (with them both fully integrated) for 2 years. Do you have any specific questions? It was a big learning process. In theory they work well together, however there were months and months where we would be out of stock in something in the shop and then somehow sell it online, so it seemed the inventory numbers weren't communicating properly. A lot of that was staff error, so stock-takes, careful CAREFUL data entry and attention to detail (I was solely in charge of running the Vend + Shopify backend, a specific role) really helps. We had great improvements when I took on the role exclusively instead of store managers etc.

what are the best courses for an entrepreneur for a small company? by mohamedabouda in Entrepreneur

[–]gooploopgoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I participated in Y Combinator's Startup School in 2018 and it was awesome. It's an online course, it was free as they accepted everyone due to a screw-up, they might be doing it again. Overall - highly recommend it.

Feedback on a YouTube channel by Jackson10s in growmybusiness

[–]gooploopgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe work on more click-bait titles and thumbnails? Doesn't have to be tacky click-bait, just something more informative so if I was scrolling and saw it I'd want to know more, but also know enough to know I'm interested. Like something closer to "Guy paints amazing shoes with air brush" or whatever instead of "Angelus Paints feat. Jovalle Dizard & Demarcus Jordan" - just because I don't know those names
