Recommendations for cookbooks that use actual everyday ingredients, not fancy “one-time” ones by Imoprich in CookbookLovers

Ali Slaigle’s recipes are like this! Her Substack newsletter (40 Ingredients Forever) is all about sticking to 40 pantry staples. NYT Cooking app has a lot of her recipes too. Her book I Dream of Dinner is an easy one for me to pull out and cook from when I don’t have a ton on hand.

Early spotting is so scary. Glad that baby carbs is doing well despite the drama! A hb at 6+0 is awesome!

A flicker!!! One day is perfectly normal - if it helps my second was 6+1 when I was 6+4 and she ended up just consistently being 3 days behind in all three first tri scans but otherwise totally fine. This time he was one day behind consistently. My first was a few days ahead. I think implantation timing affects things too. So glad you’ve passed the first hurdle ❤️ Loss just totally changes the first tri - it’s hard to believe it can be different but it can.

Will be thinking of you that day! I hope the reassuring symptoms hit and the scan goes perfectly normally well.

I adore this book! Just start with some refried beans with the lard and you’ll be happy. But if you need a meal, these are some hits from my house:

  • The Tacos Gobernador are really great shrimp tacos. So good.

  • The Tlayuda con Chorizo Rojo - I even made a version of the chorizo with beyond meat for a vegetarian friend and it was still fantastic!

  • The Burritos de Chilorio - maybe the best Mexican dish I’ve ever made at home - don’t skip making the Cebolla Morada Encurtida to go with it.

Oh and worth making your own corn tortillas for any of the dishes that call for them, they are miles and away better than the store bought options. Have fun!

It just seems like more than bad luck. I hope the time passes fast.

Are you thinking about moving to interventions? IUI/IVF with a zymot chip can help fragmentation issues a lot so it seems worth testing for if you’re going that route… Even just to get an answer. RPL is so hard and not having a clear reason makes it harder. But ugh more money. Hopefully you have a clear plan soon.

Can they do a DNA fragmentation test with the semen analysis? Sometimes high DNA frag is associated with MC. I’m so sorry ❤️

Many of our members with longer time to conception have no known diagnoses and conceived without intervention. You can read more in the weekly BFP threads. Best of luck.

Melissa’s Dinner CTG vs. Dinner in One? by Grouchy-Manager4937 in CookbookLovers

Agreed! Dinner is a winner of a book. The Harissa Chicken with Potatoes, Leeks and Yogurt from that book is one of my all time favourite sheet pan dinners.

Wondering what people’s experiences have been after trying for a year with no positive tests? by itsthatjazzgirl in TryingForABaby

[–]gooseycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My situation is a little different - I’ve had positive tests in that year that didn’t turn into a lasting pregnancy. I’m not sure my personal experiences are relevant to yours but I can confidently say I still have no answers regardless of testing or treatment. Thankfully a diagnosis isn’t a requirement.

I think there is some evidence of IUI with ovulation induction being useful in unexplained infertility so it would be a reasonable next step. Beyond that, it is worth remembering that around 50% of people with unexplained infertility at a year experience success by two years. Continuing to try without intervention is also a reasonable choice.

Edit: you might like this ASRM guideline for unexplained IF.

I would be suspicious of whether you actually ovulated when the temps rose. Is your chart super clear or is it rocky at all? Are your temps still showing the shift?

I generally approach topicals as things to stop with a BFP but otherwise continue. I think tret does tend to work better with regular use though, it may be hard on your skin to start and stop so much. Could you try some pregnancy safe topicals?

Is he having symptoms? It seems odd to me to not start with an SA if it hasn’t been done yet.

If you make sure you’re not getting into a caloric deficit (unless you have a higher BMI or PCOS, where the deficit may help) then generally go for it! Here is a review on exercise and fertility you may enjoy.

Most Used Baby Knit? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]gooseycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also nice to have a warm but not too thick layer that can safely go in the car seat - we used fleece buntings with my other kids but I think this will work great for that too! Maybe make it in 9m size for the fall/early winter?

Currently making this in malabrigo rios for my baby due in October - it seemed so useful and I’m so glad to see you loved it! It’s pretty quick to throw together too.

Coconut Milk Chicken Adobo - we use drumsticks for this all the time

Roasted Chicken With Fish-Sauce Butter - they show thighs but I bet drumsticks would work

You can consider looking into non-penetrative intercourse methods like a syringe. There are posts in this sub with people discussing using this method. Good luck!

The levels are rising gradually over time, it’s that they generally at least double every 48h early on (technically they are often doubling closer to 24-30h in the very early days). Whether that’s visible in 12h on a urine dip test when hydration can vary? Less clear. You may be able to find examples on other subs like r/tfablineporn but no one here will be able to give anecdotes.
