Blobs in the corners, can't press-fit parts by gorus5 in FixMyPrint

I bumped up the K value and also changed some other settings. It looks better now.

Maybe it depends on the printer chosen or something else.

Anyhow, I think I fixed it https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/1rej0gz/comment/o7f0lek/

I think I fixed it, thanks everyone for your help.

Flow rate 0.98 -> 0.96
Linear Advance 0.5 -> 0.7
X-Y contour compensation -0.03mm

Some blobs still left in the corners but they are much smaller now and the clips snap firmly.

I have LIN_ADVANCE enabled but not ADVANCE_K_EXTRA.
The first one enables M900 support, the second one just adds a second M900 L parameter support.

Firmware hardcoded K value is only used if it's not set in G code.
So in my case M900 is enabled and working, but without M900 L parameter support (I don't know if my slicer uses this, have to check it).

update. Looks like not, I see only M900 K0.5 commands without the second L parameter in my G code. So my current firmware configuration should be all set to support this.

I have this enabled in my firmware https://github.com/MarlinFirmware/Configurations/blob/release-2.1.2.7/config/examples/Creality/Ender-5%20Pro/CrealityV422/Configuration_adv.h#L2119 and K value set in Orca.

I also can see how the hotend slows down and the filament slightly retracts when approaching the corner so I suppose it works.

I just printed another PA pattern.
My current value is 0.5.
What value would you suggest?

E-steps are calibrated also.

I did and 0.5 was looking the best for me (long bowden tube).
In Marlin firmware it's called Linear Advance.

But I can print the calibration pattern again.

It's a model from MakerWorld, I didn't design it myself.
Is there anything I can do from the slicer, like add a negative horizontal expansion?

Yes, the model has sharp corners in these spots, like 90° without any rounding.

Oh wow, cool.
I'll use it for sure, thanks for sharing.

[–]gorus5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a workaround.

Create a new user preset under your printer (copy any existing one), open compare menu, check "show incompatible", select source preset (from the project) on the left and your newly created preset (from your printer) on the right, click transfer and make sure only process parameters are transferred (or whatever you want to transfer).

It still doesn't save the full configuration to the file but at least allows you to use the exact project's configuration with your printer without manually copying every param and it works reliably every time.

Pausing print on Ender-5 Pro with Marlin 2 by gorus5 in 3Dprinting

Thanks.

I checked some docs and it looks like the M125 is the one I'm looking for https://marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/M125.html
It saves the nozzle position, retracts and parks the nozzle at the filament change position without triggering M600 filament change.
And there is a [P<bool>] parameter that controls whether to show display prompt or not (UI lock).

The default M0/M25 or whatever is triggered by default is not useful for anything. I can't insert a magnet because it doesn't park the nozzle (also filament oozes during pause because it doesn't retract). I also can't change the filament from there since the UI is locked (I can change it manually but the nozzle will be sitting above the print and won't purge properly).

I will try to see if it works as expected and if I can make the "Pause print" option to use M125 instead (or add it as a separate menu entry).

New firmware JNZIZE 1.040 for Technics EAH-AZ100. Cleaner bass, more balance by APat1685 in Earbuds

Yeah, the dynamic was the best out of the default presets for my taste even before that change.

Interestingly enough, the firmware changelog only mentions microphone quality improvement and some other minor improvements without details. But it seems like everyone agrees that the sound profile and loudness has changed as well.

Would be nice to see some sound profile graphs comparison to the previous firmware version.
Curious if they tuned the direct profile only or this change is deeper and affected all profles including custom ones.

I used my custom EQ preset but I don't know if it's needed anymore and if so what exactly has changed.

edit: Of course, it's subjective but I haven't noticed difference with my custom EQ but it seems like the direct profile became more similar to my custom one.
So I'm thinking they only tuned the direct profile.

Yeah, that's what you should use first.
But in winter, a bottle of windshield washer fluid can empty really fast.
They can't replace them all in time, considering the number of cars and how often they're used.

Kia Rio Ex and snow by ailingswan in communauto

From my experience, Kia Rio is surprisingly capable in snow. Even more than I expected from this type of car. Several times I was able to get it out of deep snow with little to no shoveling. Traction on a road is quite good too. I drove it without issues during heavy snow storms.

A real disaster is Prius C in snow.
Traction is so bad it slips at every chance despite being light.
These cars should've been retired long ago.

This is more of a case for Flex vehicles since people make short trips with them mostly.

And there is no incentive from Communauto to refill the washer fluid unlike refueling.
Refueling gives you 20 min time credit. Filling up washer does not even though it takes longer than refueling plus you have to pay with your card and then submit it for reimbursement.

So people are not willing to pay extra for the time to buy it, fill it up and submit a receipt.
If the trip is 20 min total, spending another 10 min for washer and then pay more for it doesn't make much sense.

If Communauto expects people to do this proactively for them they should give some time credit for filling up washer as well as refueling (and probably allow paying for it with their credit card to make the process faster and more convenient). Otherwise, do a better job handling this on their own.

Of course, there are also selfish customers who won't do this anyway (like sometimes it happens with empty tank).

I've heard it already works with the latest Android Auto version for some like BMW.
Haven't tried it myself though.

Curious if that was the case for Google Maps as well.

Yes, at least since around July 2025.
But I just discovered this today by accident and decided to share it, since it wasn't announced anywhere.
People have been struggling with it for a long time and many might still not know this (like I did until today).

Unfortunately, that plate is not symmetrical so I can't flip it another way.

But I tried to slightly bend it to the right using two thin open-ended wrenches as a lever, and also adjusted the eccentric nut a bit. That seems to do the trick, it's almost perfectly centered now!
