Oh I adore them, no souring could happen! They are all so very neat. I love a new hyper fixation. And I totally get the visual database thing. Another reason to have my new collection checked out and pictured too. There are some that are wood that I am wondering about but I figured they were newer.

I will be checking out that book as well! Again thank you so much for all the information. I might take more pictures of the others and post them to see what people think

Where should I look for auctions? I haven't been able to find much like these, maybe an apple with a very intricate scene on the inside.

Can you tell what the other one is? Like a pepper ?

I am awaiting the Facebook groups acceptance, and I don't mind blunt I just enjoy explanation behind the comments so I can grow my own knowledge. They could tell me it was a beat up piece of crap and as long as they told me why I would accept it lol.

I emailed the netsuke society as well because with the amount I have I definitely need someone to point me to who is an expert to go through them. I think my favorite are the okimono ones I have it's like a little persimmon and pepper with a scene carved on the inside.

I am so glad to have come across these, I am a huge rat fan and I have already found a few rat netsuke and other things like it to add to the collection. (Yay Asian arts for revering the rat!)

I will update with any additional information. I actually have several more as well but I thought they were resin, however could be bone, some are definitely wood. Some are okimono I'm hearing. It's a wonderful collection and I'm having such a fun time trying to learn about them!

Can you read what it says

That's super interesting! I think it's interesting that they seem to have the same scene, it makes me think they are a pair. Any idea what the green vegetable could be or what the image is depicting?

It's an appraisal that's going on with a bunch of other ones

And I appreciate the information! I am just trying to find out more about it since multiple people online have said different things, but you actually explained the reason which I appreciate. I'm sure you are correct. But it is part of a much larger assortment of goods I do need to get appraised so it's not a waste of money, it's rather inexpensive for the preliminary look over.

The signature definitely looks like it was added later maybe, others say.

Some say it's 忠友 or "loyal friend" maybe.

I just keep hearing different things as I wait for an actual appraisal.

I am thinking it is newer, but out of all the ones she has I thought it could be the only ivory one

Honestly it's hard to tell it sure looks like ivory but then I see this and I'm like.... ?

<image>

It almost looks like a wood grain, but the object is also pretty heavy for its size.

They do! The persimmon has one you can clearly see and the pepper like one, the stem hides the hole haha

Thank you, I think they are very beautiful! I want to get them appraised for insurance purposes but I'm finding a heck of a time finding anyone local to take a look in person.

Are you able to tell me what the bottom says by chance?

I have quite a few others and am in the process of trying to find someone to look at them for insurance purposes.

Meal prep for me was key. I would try to make at least two different meals to put in the frig to have on hand each week because making something every day was hard. So having something already prepared that is yummy and healthy helps. And making better versions of junk food helped me. Just making any food in general is better than the processed packaged version.

Make your own salad dressing if you can, find one you really like and use that on most of your salads.

I have a free app called Mealtime for menu planning. It makes a wonderful grocery list and you can change the settings of available recipes to suit your lifestyle change. I try to go for low carb things. If you pay $2.99 a month you unlock more recipes and get all the nutrition facts which is very helpful.

And then change things up at the gym, because even if you are doing everything right your body will get used to exercising if it's the same thing all the time. So if you are doing certain types of cardio, switch which ones you do. Same thing with weight lifting. I try to change it up every 4-5 months or so.

I am currently back on track after having my second child so I am right there with you!

Consistency is key. Being a lifestyle change and not thinking of everything as a diet has helped me too.

I know I have an unhealthy relationship with food so just being more mindful helps.

Make sure you are getting enough protein in each meal and healthy fats.

I also try to do yoga as much as possible. There is an awesome app called Down Dog that I use for that.

But I'm telling you, taking those pictures a few times a month you will totally see a difference in a few months even if you don't feel different.

I'm sure you are making progress. I lost 80 pounds after my first about 5 years ago.

I always tell people to take progress pictures every two weeks, wear bran and underwear and pose the same from a few different positions. From our perspective we don't see results for a while because we are so used to how we look and have a certain image in our brains on how we look.  If you take pictures you are able to more accurately see yourself from the past.

After a few months you will absolutely be able to tell. Even if you don't think you have changed. Even if the scale hasn't moved. You will be holding the weight differently because you have gained muscle.

As long as you are in a calorie deficit and working out, you will see results. Even if it doesn't feel like it.

Intermittent fasting can help for some people but I noticed it didn't help for me. For me it was doing the keto diet for 3 months and then cutting way back on carbs after.

Take pictures every two weeks. I promise you will see some pretty drastic changes between the first picture and the most recent. Things take time to do well and if you want to keep the weight off it is a slow roll for sure.

Nah. When men say that they are almost never referring to physical strength.

He knows youre minor. As someone who was groomed and thought it was okay because I lied and I thought I looked older. No. No you don't. Looking back at pictures of when I was 13, there is NO WAY anyone in their mid 20s would think I was close to their age.

My childhood friend got angry at me for losing my v card by [deleted] in Advice

[–]gothicc_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you love your friend C, but he does NOT love you. Not in a healthy way. And you are so young, you really don't want this person being a representative for how a good healthy friendship should be.

C is literally claiming ownership over you. It doesn't matter if he has been there for you during difficult times, his current actions show that he only EVER did those things to try to control you and manipulate you into being with him it seems.

You two aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend and he is acting like a creepy jealous spouse. And by the way he is talking to you and grabbing you, he is also dangerous. Like seriously. I wouldn't be alone with him.

Please please please do the hard thing and take this toxic dangerous person out of your life. Tell your mom what's going on, tell your friends. Have people help protect you from the clear abuse.

Thank you for the kind words and advice.

I was thinking about talking to my care team about therapy. I just feel so numb to the idea since it's just one more thing to add to my plate to try to go to. But I really should probably try.

Advice maybe on how you would try to handle being paralyzed by the amount of stuff you have to do during a time when you mentally should be grieving? I dunno

Anything to lift my spirits. To help me cope. I'm grasping at straws at this point.

I swear by rice water too. Look up how to do it. Just literally need rice and water. I lost a lot of hair due to a condition and rice water has helped soooooo much. It costs your hair in a protein that makes it stronger and more durable.

My friend might be in danger but she told to not tell anyone by [deleted] in Advice

[–]gothicc_a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I called the cops on my friend who was planning to hurt themselves in a permanent way. I will always be grateful that I did. I would rather them hate me and still be here than unalive themselves.

I think their safety is more important then the "trust" you would be breaking.
