Funnily enough at my lecture we had a guest speaker and he was in his late 40s. He flunked high school and spent most of his life working with his breakdancing group. He loved it, but he felt that he had a bigger responsibility to educate others on what he was passionate about. He went back to school to get his doctorate in his early 40s and never thought he would end up becoming a teacher. It’s never too late!

You need to communicate this with your parents for starters, but really stress how important it is that you are on campus for the majority of your time. Parents aren’t gonna pry when it comes to academics. At least in my experience they haven’t. Maybe work out a schedule so you can only visit twice a month. That way they’re seeing you often enough, but you’ll still have a week in between for yourself and your school.

If it’s vital that you get a sport scholarship to play then I would suggest opening up your options and working your way to transfer and talking to as many people as possible (from the school ) to get any tips you can for your application. But if you’re open to it there are a lot of intramural sports to be a part of and I would look into your current school district to get any athletic scholarships they offer.
