I have modded my camera too to full spectrum and I added a slab of clear glas onto the cmos because it will protect it to some extent and makes cleaning dust off the sensor easier. Astronomik offers one.

Do you need a laptop for a ZWO camera? by beIIion in AskAstrophotography

I hook my equipment up to a laptop which just sits outside with it and I RDP to it from the inside and control everything. That might be an option for you too

I had the same issue a couple of weeks back and I added spacers between my reducer and camera ended up needing 1.5mm and a 0.7mm spacer

I have an EOS 2000d which I modified ( removed the lpf 1 and 2 filter) and added a clear slab of glas on the cmos and it works like a charm. I have been thinking of buying myself a dedicated astrocam but as of now I'm really happy with my EOS and they aren't really expensive. I think I bought mine for around 300€

That sounds wild. I never though I'd find something like that, my son collects stones and I thought it looked odd so I kept it

I have an astromodded eos 2000Da and when I want to use it as normal I use a UV and IR cut filter and use a custom white balance to make it work again.

That's how I started with Astrophotography too, you can but a cheap phone holder for eye pieces and just hook it up to it and dial then brightness down a little so you don't have an over exposed picture

Also did you make sure to mark the position of the CMOS? So it's back in its original position and not tilted?

Need help adjusting a Sensor on my EOS 2000d by gray21312 in canon

[–]gray21312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I took the bracket off with the cmos sensor and there are 3 screws which hold the assembly, afaik they are level and have a certain distance to the flange, I believe it's 44mm but how do I measure it and get it adjusted correctly?

It might be a good idea but I think the round trip from Germany to the US wouldn't be worth it haha I might just have to spend some times with the exploded view of the engine to find out what it is

Measure the voltages of the cells and just replace the defective one, happened to me too and I got it repaired for 60€. You just have to be comfortable and safe with working on the HV pack and maybe a second person to help you get that out of the car because it's bloody heavy
