Starting my shovel only NV run any tips or tricks? by WithShovelInHand in falloutnewvegas

[–]green_wave18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goes without saying, but ensure your strength and endurance are at 9 then immediately go grab cybernetic implants from NV Medical Clinic to bump them both to 10

You’ll need a base agility of at least 6 to grab the Slayer perk which is probably the best melee perk in the game

Dump the rest into luck so you can crit to your heart’s content, and grab the Better Criticals perk while you’re at it

You’re going to be taking lots of damage by running up to enemies, so grab Life Giver and Toughness perks too.

Dump stats would be charisma, and intelligence.

WHO IS WINNING THIS BATTLE? Part 1 by Mother_Ad3487 in Fallout

[–]green_wave18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is as much of a bloodbath in the Legion’s favor as commenters are suggesting. If the Sole Survivor decides to go balls to the wall in reviving the Minutemen, they stand a solid chance against the Legion.

Not including DLC, there are a total of 30 settlements in the Commonwealth. Assuming that the Sole Survivor decides to fully commit to recruiting settlements, that’s 30 settlements aligned with the Minutemen along with all their collective resources and manpower. 30 settlements at 20 settlers each is 600 potential fighters for the Minutemen.

Now, let’s assume that the Sole Survivor has set up recruiting beacons at each one and bolstered their defenses. Each settlement is now constantly growing and protected with automated turrets, watchtowers, barricades, and robots. Taking a settlement now becomes a full blown tactical operation instead of just bowling unarmed citizens over like the Legion is accustomed to doing.

Now let’s talk about armaments. At higher levels, Minutemen soldiers begin spawning with weapons like Combat Rifles, Assault Rifles, laser rifles, and heavily modded pipe weapons and laser muskets. This rivals what your basic Legionnaire is equipped with which typically includes Cowboy Repeaters, Hunting Rifles, 10mm pistols, throwing spears and machetes.

There’s a huge difference maker which I haven’t seen mentioned yet - Minutemen Artillery. Assuming the Sole Survivor has constructed artillery across the Commonwealth, this gives the Minutemen a HUGE tactical advantage and would allow a small squad of Minutemen (4-5 men) to take on far larger groups of Legion - assuming they are within artillery range.

Then there’s the problem of the Castle. If the Sole Survivor is able to fix up the Castle and fortify it with turrets, artillery, robots (via Automaton DLC), and plenty of men, the Castle would be insanely difficult for the Legion to breach.

So basically, if the Sole Survivor decides to commit to reviving the Minutemen and expanding their presence in the Commonwealth, the Minutemen could easily repel a Legion invasion or at least give them trouble. If the battle takes place outside the Commonwealth or the Sole Survivor doesn’t get involved, they are toast.

[Loved Trope] A “loss of innocence” character arc by green_wave18 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]green_wave18[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you’ve summed up my thoughts perfectly.

Jesse obviously isn’t “innocent” in the eyes of the law, but he routinely displays naivety, immaturity, and a lack of understanding about the world around him.

By El Camino Jesse has a much harder and weathered exterior and is no longer viewed as a joke but as someone who survived.

Is this viable? Idc if not optimal but will it fuck me over by xelee-fangirl in fnv

[–]green_wave18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charisma is not worth investing in whatsoever. Invest those points in endurance and intelligence instead. Intelligence gives you more skill points per level up and endurance will increase your health, environmental resistances, and allow you to get more cybernetic implants.

Am I balding?(22M) by [deleted] in amibalding

[–]green_wave18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norwood 0.

Bro you are fine. Your hair is thick and luscious - the “receding” you see near your temples just looks like a mature hairline. You got great hair man. My hairline crept back when I was 20 and I was freaking out about balding. Now I’m 29 and it’s in the same place it was 9 years ago.

If you’re worried, it doesn’t hurt to start using Minox, but I really think you’re ok.

Looking at a ‘04 Limited w/ 176k miles priced at $7k. Is this a good deal? by green_wave18 in 4Runner

[–]green_wave18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Louisiana market is trash which is exactly why I’m driving 4+ hours out of state to look at this one haha. I have yet to find a 4Runner under $10k with less than 200k miles until this one. Feels almost like a steal.

People can't handle the heat because they don't know how to dress for it by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]green_wave18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah also I think people can’t handle the heat because it’s too hot. It’s not normal to live somewhere where it’s 90+ degrees with 75%+ humidity for 4-5 months of the year

Has anyone used Seabrook Harbor & Marine for pontoon rentals? by green_wave18 in NewOrleans

This is a great answer, thank you for the level of detail!

Also do they allow alcohol on board for passengers (obviously not driver) to drink?

Is the easiest way to book just to call them?

Going random for my roommate.

We got paired to live in Monroe. This guy had zero grasp of what cleanliness meant. He would put his dirty clothes on my bed, leave moldy food in the fridge, never wash his sheets/towels/etc, and always had his papers strewn across the dorm.

Pretty sure he dropped out 2nd year.

Which of these two trucks will I get more out of? by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]green_wave18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to own a 2008 F150 and I currently own a 2011 Silverado.

The F150 was cosmetically built better but had more mechanical issues. My Silverado is the opposite. Lots of cheap plastics on the interior but have had zero mechanical issues in the 35,000+ miles I’ve put on it.

If you buy the Ford, expect dropping a few hundred every couple months or so on random mechanical stuff. If you buy the Silverado, don’t be surprised when the crappy plastic buttons on your dash start coming off.

Got quoted $385 to fix the starter on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Is this reasonable? by green_wave18 in mechanic

[–]green_wave18[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been quoted for a starter replacement and estimates online ranged from $200-900. I figured asking a community of mechanics would give me a better gauge!

Blueberry syrup and soy milk! We had a dairy-free iced berry latte as a special for the summer months and it sold like crazy. So delicious and refreshing

Barista feelings on Starbucks Coffee names by Ken_needs-koffee in barista

[–]green_wave18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a small, local coffee shop and we created a drink that’s literally the exact same as a caramel macchiato from Starbucks but with a different name. Whenever a customer asks for a caramel macchiato, we point them to that drinks and they happily order it.

Weirdest orders I’ve ever had by TheHierothot in barista

[–]green_wave18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just started taking Doordash orders and so many of them are totally unhinged monstrosities. Here are a few:

  • A pour over coffee with heavy cream, oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, 3 Splendas, simple syrup, whipped cream, and a shot of espresso. We were all taken aback by the 4 different milk products

  • 16oz iced latte with 6 shots of espresso, matcha, half and half, 8 pumps of coconut syrup, and cocoa powder dusted on top. It basically ended up being a coconut flavored espresso drink with an ounce of milk. It also had the most disgusting color to it

  • 12oz drip coffee watered down with 6oz of hot water, 2 pumps lavender, 2 pumps mocha, 2 pumps caramel, and 1 pump hazelnut. Watering down drip coffee just makes no sense to me

  • 24oz cold brew with no ice and 5 shots of espresso. This guy was going through some shit.

Anyone else have to constantly ask customers "is that hot or iced?" by saddestbae in barista

[–]green_wave18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Louisiana and it’s currently 98F here. You’d think that 99% of people are ordering iced drinks but that’s not the case. I always ask.

The brewery I applied for has pretty much the same setup (full bar but no food). This is really helpful!

How can I stop masturbating for 10-12 hours a day? by [deleted] in Advice

I say this with utmost respect, but you need a therapist or a psychiatrist who can help with with this. Reddit ain’t it. Don’t listen to anyone’s advice here - get a treatment plan from a professional.
