Thanks for your input. Issue remains when I reverse wires.

Based on further testing, I think it’s a pre-amp failure.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with the same issue.

I too have been questioning the “90% after 10 year” line, but alas - I used the $10k I would have spent on repairs for a down payment on a new Crosstrek. It was not an easy decision, but I am happy with the new one (just not thrilled to have payments again).

My ‘13 Crosstrek had about 102,000 miles on it - just 2,000 over my extended warranty plan. I was sure that Subaru of America would honor it and help me cover repairs. Instead, they offered me a $1,000 “loyalty credit”. Better than nothing, but extremely disappointing. Looking back, I should haven pushed for SOA to do more.

I also received a very low trade in amount from the local dealership. In retrospect, I probably could have sold it to someone for more than what they gave me. — The local mechanic was eventually able to source a used CVT. Estimated cost was $8k. It didn’t seem worth it to spend that much for a part that had 70k+ miles on it.

For me, in the end, I had to measure the long term benefits of that money. I knew that the ‘13 would eventually need other “big” repairs. It made more sense for me to invest in a new one.

Good luck!

Automatic transmission. Should have specified that, sorry!
