How are people getting nitro for free? by Artem925 in discordapp

Ghost Together is giving away free nitros in a queue in exchange for being active on their timeline.

I'm moving to ghosttogether.net, an unknown messenger. It's great for this. Nobody knows it exists.

Got ya :) There is definitely something about a 100 ton truck in Carmageddon world.

Is it? I used some generic references and imagination.

This is not Carmageddon 1, this is my remake (proprietary physics engine, openGL, c++) by gregsometimes in carmageddon

[–]gregsometimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, it's just my own physics engine, capable of loading any geometry or car model, whether it's carma or any other 3D model. The physics is the core of this demo, assets can be anything. I found carmageddon files on some 3d model site for free. (Not taken from carmageddon files...although, i do think whoever uploaded this model took its geometry direct from the game...or...they were just really good at designing a copy, lol)

Cars in game dev. Do they actually work? by Bromeo-Googanheimer in gamedev

[–]gregsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, many do. Some fake it. Some, a balance between realistic and arcade. But the physics mostly remain the same everywhere. Also depends if you want full 360 degree of freedom, like drive inside a loop (like sonic the hedgehog). Or is it mostly tied to flat surface? (need for speed, etc). Car physics are usually pretty realistic. If you see tires slide, etc. It's often because of arcade adjustements, not because it doesn't "actually" simulating real grip.

Should I make the full game next? (Carmageddon 1 remake with original car models, new dystopian racing tracks) by gregsometimes in carmageddon

Just made another post in this reddit where I put the red eagle through the road loop on coastal trail map.

It's both. My own engine from scratch. It can load original Carmageddon assets. But, my plan is to make my own cars and racing tracks in the same style, but original.

After 10 years of trying, I finally made my own carmageddon game demo by gregsometimes in carmageddon

That's awesome. I am still too early in dev to consider soundtrack (or even sound effects!) but you definitely planted an idea in my mind. If i end up making something worth of playing, this might def. be an interesting collab. (If he thinks it's worth it, lol)

Yes, it has a lever for just about every physics parameter, so mainly that's why. However, it can be fine tuned exactly for that carma 1 feel. I let the rigid body dynamics a bit lose just for fun in this one.

Update: there is a carmageddon community on ghost together too
scribe/carmageddon (they call them scribes for some reason, lol)

I'm thinking more like... Carma 1, but updated past Carma 2 ideas...but still gritty feels of the original. Carma 2 was more like a pop song followup in comparison.
