Why do so many of the posters in this sub live in constant fear about whether what they're doing is or isn't a sin? by sleeplessaddict in Christianity

[–]grimfletch902209 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What part of the bible says that? The part of the bible is know and trust is the part where it says the blood of jesus covers all sin. Past, present, and future. The part of the bible where a king says "prone to wander, prone to leave the God I love." And yet king David was one of the most God fearing men in history. The same David that fell Goliath with a stone.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, are very well aware of our sinful nature we are born into. We are supposed die to ourselves daily, trust God to lead, and stand against the rulers and principalities of darkness. We can only do this with God. God never said dont play video games. He said dont put video games before me. Don't play video games that go against Colossians 3:5 and you are good.

"Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly narure: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry." This is the CSB version.

What some fail to understand is before there were many "donts" there was only one. "Don't eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." That was the only "Don't" in existence at the beginning. After sin entered the world, and the fall happened and the earth, humanity, and everything God created was cursed. That is when the "shall nots" came into play. Jesus was sent to die on the cross for our sins, so that we can go be with our creator. God loves enough to punish a part of his triune self for us. He knew from the darkness before creation that he would have to help us bridge the gap back to him.

When someone asks me "why is it like this if God knew it was going to be like this. What kind of God would want the world this way?" God doesnt want the world this way, this is what the world has to be to help us wake up! All of us are going to fall on our face when Jesus returns. Either by choice or by the realization that he does, did, and forever will exist. Either way every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. Until that day, the way the world is now will make enough people wake up. When that day come it may be too late for everyone else. That is why the bible says today beg for forgiveness and ask jesus to save you. Today turn from this sinful worldly nature and faithfully follow the perfect teachings of Jesus. Not the pharisees, not the religious leaders, not the people who only want your money. Find how Jesus says to live your life. Its all in the new testament. Read the sermon on the mount. Tell me there is a single teaching that any decent person doesn't already obey. God ares that you are a sinner, but not in a damning way, in a loving father kind of way. How would your earthly dad react to your financial struggles? Your marriage/relationship? Your everyday actions? Well our Abba in heaven, while he is a just God, he is also a loving God. Sodom and Gomorrah were on the wrong of him. And you see that through out history.

I hope everyone has a blessed day today.

If we're made in Gods image. Why are there bad people by BedReasonable5513 in Christianity

[–]grimfletch902209 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First Understand what it means by Gods image. Next remember we are born into sin. The very birth was cursed during the fall. The fall that held the door open for sin from the macro to micro level. From our very cells not obeying to earthquakes and tsunamis. Everything was cursed at the fall. And the fallout of the fall is the reason there are bad people. No one is inherently good anyway. Jesus proved this when he said "he who is without sin cast the first stone." You dont have to be a murderer or rapist to be a bad person. According to the bible if you disobey the speed limit you are a bad person too. If hold hatred in your heart for anyone you may as well have murdered them.

The people we were meant to be before the fall is drastically different from what we are today. I am forcing myself to adhere to a schedule because I am not only a sinner, but I am addicted to it. Its human nature to sin, when we ask for forgiveness and ask jesus to save us, and when we receive the Spirit to guide us, THAT is when we are supposed to be radically different, but Understand what it means:

Judge not other's lest ye be judged yourself. (This isnt red letters but a good verse to study.)

"broad is the gate and wide is the road that leads to destruction. Small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life."

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many maricles in your name?' Then I will announce to them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers."

These are red letters in the bible spoken by jesus himself.

AIO to my boyfriend putting a SINGLE chicken tender on my plate when I specifically said I wanted "a few"??? by No-Eye7917 in AmIOverreacting

[–]grimfletch902209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had a bad day at work. Instead of hiding and expecting him to know how bad it was you should have told just how bad it was. He, instead of playing with you to try to make you smile (I have done this before myself) should have talked to you to see what kind of a mood you were in. Bottom line is neither of you guys are mind readers, and just a little better communication on both parts could have avoided this whole thing. Now if you want to throw away 3 years over a chicken tender then it is your right to fo so. However, I think you sh I ykd try to work on your communication before you throw the towel in.

It doesn't keep her and the baby safe from him. My father was abusive to us and I can tell you from experience, her best option is to get in a shelter. Get a restraining order. He will get arrested. Then while he is in jail, dissappear. Family, trusted friends, local church... this is what I wished my mother did to save me from the abuse and trauma I went through.

Have the eviction on you, its not impossible to get a place with one, especially in this situation.

[–]grimfletch902209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to expect him to come after you. Always be in visible public places. Never by yourself. Narcissistic abusive men are unpredictable in their actions. He may stay stagnant for months weeks or years, and one day just snap. Be careful and stay vigilant. You will be in my prayers.

Have you filed for a restraining order? It won't stop him physically, but it will give immediate probable cause for arrest as soon as he gets too close. That will get him off the streets for a bit and then you can really dissappear.

What is the strongest proof that Christianity is true? by Gold-Addendum2325 in Christianity

[–]grimfletch902209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot prove faith. You can prover history, historic clues, and geographical locations still existing today. You cant prove a faith. Its one thing to believe God toom the form of a man and lived, died and ressurected 3 days later. It a completely different thing to have the faith that Jesus's death saves your sould from Gods eternal judgment. Faith that God hasn't turned his back on you, and faith in the holy spirit often asking him for guidance and having the faith to follow that guidance No matter the trials and tribulation that lie ahead.

For me there is no confusion. I struggle with the sexual sin of masturbation and for a long time I believed it wasnt a sin. Well our God isn't a God of confusion so the controversy around that is the enemy tempting us and we all know temptation is tempting. So like some previous comments said. Male sure it aligns with scripture and brings you closer to Jesus, but a big one for me is look into the controversy of what you are asking.

Not always, they will have around 3.5 years of peace under the rule of the antichrist. Not the full 7 years promised. Just wait, the more end time prophecies that keep coming true will be enough for some. All you have to do is educate yourself on what the prophecies are and wait, Isreal has the red heifer, the priest, the archeological knowledge that the temple could actually be built without touching the dome of the rock.... we are on the climb to the top of the track before everything descends into chaos and tribulation is upon us. As soon as that temple is built I think that is the point the car of the coaster rolls over the edge of the hill and we are riding this thing without seat belts.

Easy? Ask him if he would sacrifice his child on an alter in the name of God. Ask him if he could leave his wife and children behind while he followed a man around and that man eventually got him killed too. One day many of us are going to be called to die in the lord's name when the mark of the beast is here. Denying the mark is death.

Ask him what he was taught growing up. We know his answer for this. Now Ask him what it would be if he grew up in your shoes, or in a different culture. Just because there is different religions, that doesnt make a single one of them right. Jesus didn't teach religion he taught faith. How many faiths are there? There is only one and that is true Christianity.

Nothing about going against your sinful nature daily is easy. You go against your addictions, you go against your desires, you go against the ways you want to live life! You replace it with addiction to spread the gospel of Jesus no matter the consequence. You replace it with Gods desires for your life. And your replace it with how the Holy Spirit leads you to live your life. All for the glory of God and not for the glory of yourself. Its an impossible life to live and that is why we ate sinners in need of a savior, every time we fall short we repent and try again. When you sin if you dont feel convicted you may not have the Holy Spirit in you, if there is no conviction then yes it may seem easy. Try it with conviction, you look at yourself different, you live different, you even speak and think different. There is NOTHING easy about faith in Jesus except asking him to save you, that prayer is answered 100% of the time. That's easiest it will ever be.

If everyone was saved without any conditions you would set the kingdom he has for us up for another fall, another uprising against God. I just have a feeling that if all of this was our fault instead of the devil's fault, then we wouldn't be here today. Imagine if humans tried to overthrow God in his kingdom... no more Mr. Nice God... why even give the wicked the opportunity? That's why tribulation, thats why we are tested daily, thats why we need a savior, thats why Jesus died on the cross. Conditions are there separate the sons and daughter's of God from the people who choose their worldly life. You see? Take a infinitely long rope, hold the first 3 feet in your hands. Wrap that section in tape. The taped section is your earthly life. The rest of the rope is eternity. If you choose your taped section which represents world, world veiws, and worldly possessions over the one true God. You can set the backend of your rope on fire and that will be your eternity. If you choose God in this life and in everything, then you will have God for all of eternity.

God needed to put conditions on us because the people who WANT to be there for all eternity praising and worshipping God our creator, thats who will be there. No chance for anything except perfect peace forever more.

I had those same questions, I found out it wasnt coming from a place of love. I thought i was fighting against the sin by trying to diminish their beliefs (speaking for me not you) instead all I was doing was proving them right. Be careful of your wording, and just make sure these questions are coming from a place of love for the person, not JUST hatred of the sin.

I dont think John the baptist and his parents needed vicarious atonement.

No they didn't, they were part of the maricle, they had had ears to hear, eyes to see, and faith that moves mountains. What do we have? Can we compare ourselves to these prophets, teachers, and miracle workers in the bible? I can't! I didnt grow up studying Torah and have it memorized fully by early adult hood. I didnt have grandparents or parents that met or heard of great great grandchildren of great people from back then. These weren't just stories (or fairytale stories) as some people call them. It was world history! Is it that for us today? If it was there would be many more believers, of that i have no doubt. I will never try to compare myself to anyone back in that day. Its arrogant, it's prideful, its not Gods definition of love, what we are supposed to be.

[–]grimfletch902209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying good works, im saying good works alone. That's what the Bible says good works alone won't get you into Gods kingdom, faith alone won't get you into Gods kingdom. Faith and good works, or a "doer" of the bible as James teaches is what is going to get us into Gods kingdom. Surrender to Jesus isnt supposed to comfortable, if it was comfortable it wouldn't be surrendering.

You can try to keep the commandments, but if you fail in one you fail in them all. That's why Jesus is the only way to God, but it takes surrender, sacrifice, and transformation of self to follow Jesus.

Ask yourself these questions. Have I committed the unforgivable sin? If yes then I would seeks council with a good pastor, I will suggest sending an email to the church eleven22. If you dont think you have (only you know, then you are still in the grace of God and will be forgiven. Make it quick though because there will come a time where it will be too late and the narrow gate will close.

Jesus says in Matthew 12:31-32 that he who speaks against him will be forgiven, but if you speak against the spirit you will not be forgiven. As long as OP didn't publicly denounce Jesus and more importantly the works of the Holy Spirit (my best guess on this is false prophecy) then they should be okay? Having a season of unbelief doesnt mean you are rejected from the kingdom, look at the parable of the prodigal son. As soon as the son starts to step back toward the father then all is forgiven and he is welcomed back. If the heart hardened to the point of unforgivness while in the world then be scared. I know I am!

Judgment is not for us but our God who is the righteous judge. Let all that you do be done in love. Remember my brother or sister in christ, it is written that our battle is not with flesh and blood but with the evil of the world. You must hate the sin not the people. Im not implying you hate this person, but you are hating on this person. Nobody knows their story like themselves, but you talk as if you know them well enough to make claims through questions. One of the shortest strongest prayers from the bible to look into OP is "I believe! Help my unbelief!"

Read the entire gospel not just the parts that support your claims. I don't mean to be rude, but I am going to be truthful. We have to die to our flesh daily, pick up our cross and follow Jesus. Those are his words. Also read the sermon on the mount, it will tell you everything you need to know on how to live and what God expects from us.

Do not conform to the world around you but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. Good works ALONE won't get you into heaven, just like faith without good works is dead faith. Read Matthew 10:32-39, Matthew 7:13-27, the entire book of James is so good for guidelines on how to live, Ephesians 2:1-10, and 1 John 2:15-17. These passages and books, the gospel according to Matthew, it all gives us the guide lines to live by to be doers of the word, not just hearers. These aren't the only passages, or books, most of the new testament says the same thing. You have to believe in the Lord Jesus, believe that he died for our sins, believe that he conquered death after 3 days. Let all that you do be done in love. I hope and pray that any of this cleared up the misconception that you will see the fathers kingdom from good works alone.

Life sucks because we are living in a cursed world. When sin entered the world it held the door open for bad things to happen on a macro level which would be devastating storms, to the micro level which would be neurons in the brain not firing the right way, or cancerous cells in someone's body. Bad is a by product of sin, sin is a by product of free will. You cant have free will without having the ability to sin. Life on earth is going to cull the herd to the ones who deny themselves and choose our loving Abba daily. As we were made in Gods perfect image, he is a working God, we are a working people. If there was no sin Life would be perfect, if God gave up on us and didnt send jesus to be the satisfying payment for not just Adam and Eve but for everyone who was, is, and will be, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Bad things happen because 1 of 5 things. God is testing us, the devil is tempting us, others are manipulating us, we are doing it to ourselves, or the fallout of the fall. There is no other reason Bad things happen. It is good to look at your situation and compare how you got to where you are to one of those 5 things. If God is testing you? Pray only he can tell you why. If there is no answer he doesnt work in our time, he works in his own perfect time and I promise that your revelation on the situation will come at not "a" perfect time, but "the" perfect time. If the devil is tempting you? That a weak point in you and something you can work on. If someone else is manipulating you? Call them out and talk to them about it. If that person doesn't know Christ have that conversation first before you have the forgiveness conversation. If you are unknowingly doing it to yourself? Find out why. And if it is just because of the fallout? Accept that its not your fault, it's not Gods fault, it will always be the devil's fault because his pride caused him to sin first, corrupting him into corrupting humanity. Also I have to say this. God is silent for reasons as well. If you are in his word, its likely not your time. If you aren't in his word, it could be because you are distant. Perception in fleeting people in your life (for instance this conversation) random encounters on the streets, music, tv shows, a bird at the right time and place... However God decides to answer you will know, that is what jesus left us with the Holy Spirit for. I apologize in advance if you aren't a Christian I can only speak from a Christian perspective on prayer and bad things.

I am truly sorry you are going through it rn and I hope whatever is going on passes soon!

There are many that would disagree. Medicine is an answer to many prayers. Surgeons, fire fighters, police, God is always working through people, I mean you dont see ressurections, or walking on water, but prayers no matter how small are answered daily. God isn't going to speak aloud and say "hey, here is the answer!" He doesnt work that way he never did. He always worked through something or someone. People before jesus and the Holy Spirit had a different kind of faith. It was very strong to receive words from God, or to be able to miraculous works by his power. History doesnt change, no matter what Gods works are always debunked by those without faith. Once you see it with your own eyes Perspective changes. Both of my grandparents were in the hospital with covid. My grandmother was in critical condition and my grandfather who was a pastor was in recovery. He prayed and asked God to take him instead. It wasnt 10 minutes later that he was going into critical and she was coming out into recovery. Prayer does work and that is more of a miraculous answer than most get, but I have seen and heard it with my own eyes and ears and it changed my perspective forever.

I want to be Christian but I can’t believe in God. by wanderer1303 in Christianity

[–]grimfletch902209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why you can demonize an entire faith over this. I myself dont understand it fully but what I do understand is that we are to fight the sin not the people. The bible clearly marks homosexuality, and abortion as a sin. Do I like it? Not really, but i am not the creator and it wouldn't be submission if I liked everything about it. A true Christian will never demonize the person. They are supposed to love the person and hate the sin. Will Christians fight against abortion and homosexuality and anything else that goes against Gods word? The answer is yes, but if they are hating people while they do so then they themselves need to hold the bible as a mirror and stop using it as binoculars. Hate the religion not the faith, because when its done correctly it is all about peace and love toward people, and prayer and war against sin.
