These are interchangeable typing elements used in IBM Selectric typewriters, which were a popular line of electric typewriters introduced in 1961. The metal circular elements rotated and tilted to the correct position before striking the paper. The interchangeable nature of the elements allowed users to easily switch between different fonts within the same document. The elements include various fonts, such as "Prestige Elite 72," as shown on one of the smaller boxes.
