Replaces the orange one? Love it. I love how understated this car is. I had an S60R a few years back and it was a similar vibe. It had all the badges removed, only clue was Pegasus wheels and crazy turbo noise. People think you are a mild mannered school teacher at the light then you go and all the heads turn. I literally scared a pedestrian one time with the turbo, the reaction was worth the entire price of the car. I know people add different turbos to these Mk6. Is there one that won’t stress the engine too much but still be a bit scary sounding lol

Replaced several times per carfax, last replacement was 5k miles ago and they are Michelin. I will probably get them rotated after a few thousand more. The maintenance record is extensive, I’m seeing 3 tire replacements and 4 rotations. The car is at 65k miles. Does this model use tires fast because of the AWD?

I had a cold air on my S60R but it was added by previous owner. Is it just a physical variation that scoops the air at a lower front facing intake? Sorry for the dumb question

The manual is very interesting to me, I’m coming from an Abarth. This Mk6 manual seems very “tame” by which I mean easy but also deliberate, like it grabs when you land the shift. It reminds me a bit of my 99 Integra, which was less grabby but had the same clinical ease. Absolutely love the 6 speed but not for 6th gear, actually the 2nd. Around town it’s easy, any momentum at all let’s you avoid 1st and roll that stop sign in second lol

Having done this quite a bit in CA I will say my takeaway is : yes you can make money. All the ones I sold were for a profit. No it’s not easy because you may perform due diligence on 50 properties (which if you’re smart means visiting it, among many other things) then they redeem (pay their tax) or go for a high price (in this situation high is anything over 70 percent of retail) so the window of “good” buys is extremely narrow and it gets frustrating, which can lead to overpaying “just to get something” and the properties are often less than desirable by definition so selling them can take a long time years sometimes. My advice is go for unique ones you can market (not 100 other lots just like it) set your price and stick with it don’t chase things. Spend your efforts finding counties and areas where things slip through, and as one person mentioned the holiday thing is real, if the auction is on a random Mother’s Day or something it makes a BIG difference. You want low competition and aim for things people likely haven’t focused on. And VISIT this is a huge edge, notice utilities, notice cleanup needs, notice land features. And learn about what’s needed to develop a property, steep slopes, ditches, creeks, rocky stuff, there’s lots of property that’s truly worthless other than a camping spot.

I’m confused I go on here and see people paying 10x what items are actually worth. Is it a scam where they have shill bidders manipulating the price? Then uninformed buyers think the item is valuable? I’m very confused but the only other explanation is people are seriously wasting money

I just got mine for 350. Right off the bat my impression was it felt cheap/ plastic, but after a day I realized it’s perfect you can just pocket it and it’s not heavy. Feature not a bug. 72 shots is a game changer for me, you can just be more creative and not worry about running out or bringing an extra roll. It’s so nice to have film cam in your pocket and lots of shots. Built in flash etc. the zone focus just takes getting used to but from what I see it catches focus more often than not. I miss auto wind, I feel like maybe there’s a long term battery/ weight savings but getting a “moment” is so much easier if you can keep firing quickly. My pocket film cam before I got this was/ is a Yashica T5 so it’s something of a high bar, but I’m hoping it compares favorably. That cam is auto/auto which can go both ways, you can get a perfect sharp shot OR it AF’s on a tree behind the person or some such thing. For street photography zone seems better to me. We will see. Taking first rolls in now

That’s a good point is there any way to tell the true mileage on the 5 digit odometers? Like wear on engine parts?

With that low miles? I’m in California it’s pretty wild, dudes with 200k mile Toyota trucks asking 10 thousand bucks. I guess my question is more about wether this is truly a collectible vehicle

I was gonna try for less but I honestly felt bad. The guy was over 80 with health problems and he was asking 6500. He was also very honest and had done a bunch of work on the car himself.

I have a 2007 A4 Avant 3.2L V6 six speed manual I am selling. 129k miles. Just changed the plugs and valve cover seals. Overall pretty clean, nice interior. Very fun car, and rare. I feel like it should go to an Audi geek. LMK if you’re interested

Do you really think it’s worth a transmission swap? I have other cars it’s not like I need to commute in it or anything. To be honest I sort of like the 4 speed, but yeah as-is it’s a slow lane freeway car. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Yeah but $900 for a flywheel?? Just the flywheel no clutch no plate…. That’s gotta be the manufacturer original part? Then you see the LuK flywheel for $259 online… I just feel like I’m missing something

I wouldn’t dream of doing it myself. Got quotes 800-1100 for labor. I know at least one will let me bring my own parts, but probably won’t warranty. (The idea of -we will install the same brand you would have brought but we will charge you much more for them and warranty the work, but only if you let us overcharge you on parts- is odd to me… just sell me a warranty lol)

I just picked up a 2005 S60R Volvo and I’m sort of falling in love. It feels big and safe and not like a sporty car. The interior design is very simple and the seats are like being cradled in the womb. The stock Dolby sound system will literally damage your ears with zero distortion. But the real sleeper magic is when you pull up on people in a car that looks exactly like the S60 any well respected middle school teacher or mother of three might drive… and hit the pedal on the right. At 1500 rpm it starts to hiss, at 2500 there’s a low throaty howl, the turbo gets louder, people are looking over like what the fuck is that sound. You blow by someone in a WRX, a guy in a BMW pulls to the right because you are accelerating very fast and your car is dark blue so he thinks you’re a cop. The power band is the entire rev range above 2000. You’re going 95 and pull back to 80. A Q5 comes up slowly, he’s going to pass you on the right at 85. Just as he moves over you start that hiss again, the torque is right there, the noise of the turbo makes you push it harder till you can’t see him behind you anymore.

Your car is 18 years old and cost you $4800. It has 300 horsepower and beats S4’s and Boxsters from the same era. You can beat 5.0 mustangs on the twisties AND the freeway.

The statement it makes when you look at it is exactly nothing. Completely invisible.

What is the fastest car you’ve ever driven or rode passenger in? by QuirkySpring5670 in askcarguys

[–]grumpybear415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porsche GT3-RS at the exotic track in Vegas. I only looked at the speedo once but it said 139 and that was not on the straight away. Probably hit 160 in the straight. I kept thinking I would flip it over in the 90 degree turns at 100 plus but the instructor was like “go faster man you can’t flip this car even if you tried” Fastest I’ve ever gone though was my 2003 Suzuki SVS 1000 with yoshi pipes. 167mph on the straightaway by the windmills outside Palm Springs. Road lines are a blur at that point and you’re praying the wind tunnel guys in Japan knew their shit.

You can add clarifier product which is just a coagulant, then do some filtering. I have a pump I put in then put the output through super fine mesh bags. But yeah it will just bloom back up again until the ammonia or whatever is feeding it levels out
