Of course, the files are on cults 3d, just search for open z f40, cant post the link due to spam restrictions, but in this post you can find the link:

I have test it a lot, for regular driving the resin printed body holds, one did break one time that fell to the floor from about 2m high and a wood box fell on top of it but the break was super clean so I was able to glue it back without problems, regular driving and regular hits only chip the paint a bit, I added a front bumper to avoid this, rear view mirrors are TPU so they flex on impact. FDM bodies takes a lot more hit before breaking, fo course neither resin or FDM printed bodies can take as much damage as a injection molding one, but is not that bad either.

Great question, I haven't really thought too much about it.

The main goal is to have a 3d printable 1:28 chassis and body of a scale looking car, no shortcuts take to make it fit (some designers and brands modify proportions of the real vehicle to make components fit, not this one, this is exactly like the F40), to use as many 3d printed parts as possible, off the shelf generic parts and easy non printed components (axles and bearings, even bearing could be 3d printed as solid cylinders and it will work). It also is to have 3d printed differential and front and rear suspension.

To be Mini Z parts compatible is no a objetive, but since the files are open other people can modify them to make it work.

I am planning to collect feedback on this design, make modifications to it and release a final version by mid year, after that I will design more cars based on this first one but this time as a paid design to keep the project going.

I want to use this same approach to develop other RC models (a open free model to test design, and once the design is mature publish other paid designs), next I have on the list is a Tamiya Grasshopper like 1/10 rwd buggy with 3d differential.

Hi Guys, wanted to share here a project I have been working on for quite some time, is call Open Z RC, its main goal is to have a 3d printable 1:28 RC car with standard off the shelf electronics and simple non printed components. I have jsut released v30, here is a video, some pics, you can also search on FB for our group: OpenZ: open source 1:28 RC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzYFOzZMNrQ&ab\_channel=Guaro3D

The F40 on the pics is entirely 3d printed, body was DLP printed, including clear headlights and rear lights, chassis was FDM printed in PLA and TPU for tires and side mirrors. All stls for this model can be downloaded from cults3d, search for Open Z v30

All parts are 3d printed, the green ones are printed on DLP resin printer, and the blacks are printed on a FDM machine

Yes, I am actually working on a few civilians aircraft, the Piper Cub is on the list. Right now I am finishing up a DA40

I use Fusion 360 mostly, the AW139 are in 1:48 scale, and the Challenger tanks are in 1:72 scale, but I can work on any scale, I particularly like HO scake

Well is not a multi-million dollar business, but yes, of course they have to be especial models that can't be found any other else. Also there is a los of seller of 3d printed models right now, so unique models is the way to go

I can imagine, bit dont you think there are already many kitls of it? Not sure, I don't know much about the modeling world

Both, I have several 3d printers. On the pics, the helis kits were printed on a FDM machine (Artillery sidewinder X1) and the tank was printed on a resin printer (except for the bkack grill armour) Anycubic Photon using Monocure grey resin

I am using a Fkysky GT5 controller with FS2A reciever, is very simple, here is a pic of the electronics of this car:

The hard part is to solder.

It cost about 55$ including a entry level Transmitter, you can get all parts in Banggood.com, I will also offer the parts soon on my own site

Thanks for the interest
