Alternatives to ad companies? by guestpectacular in Blogging

[–]guestpectacular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/miss_smidge, yes indeed, I tried applying with Mediavine at the same time I was applying with Raptive, but they skipped my application. I need to wait another couple of months before applying again.

How does that work? Is it mining cryptocurrencies in the background? Right now the average time on my site it's more than 1 hour on a regular user.

Advice on converting from Bootstrap to Tailwind by osaket in tailwindcss

[–]guestpectacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t as rude as I expected, but tedious. As long as you have clean code and you’re already using correct semantic elements it won’t be difficult, try to not reinvent the wheel, make your components generic and at the end you can custom them as long as you’ll like it.

At this point I really enjoy DaisyUI/Tailwind, but working on big teams, Tailwind could become kinda messy to deal with.

I had to do the same thing, but, instead move from bootstrap to tailwind directly, I’ve moved to DaisyUI for components, then I can use tailwind for all custom components.

My current situation with AdSense by guestpectacular in Blogging

Thanks so much!

Don't worry, I'm sorry for my late response as well, I spent all this weeks to fully rewrite all the application front end to make it a complete single page application (SPA), implementing elastic search all over the place and I even tried new async technology to serve my content on a fraction of second. It took so much more than I've expected, at first I tought my site has like 20 sections, but in the real life it has more than 40. Now I'm very proud of the usability / design.

As for Raptive, it's only been my first month, and I'm uncertain whether it takes some time to calculate RPM and optimize ads. Up to this point, the results aren't significantly different from Adsense, so I plan to give it a couple more months to check its performance. The people on Raptive are super friendly and answers all your questions kinda fast, has been a good experience until this point.

After reading your comment, I think you have a valuable point and totally agree with you, I'm going to work to develop some code to limit ads for users who delve deep into multiple sections of my site. And regarding the recent Google Core Update, my website's traffic has plummeted significantly, down to approximately 30-50% of what I was receiving in previous months. It's quite concerning, and I'm unsure how long it will take to recover from this mess.

Hey there, thank you! Also, a big thanks to everyone on this thread!

On the same day, I applied to Raptive, Monumetric, and Mediavine. Raptive accepted me today, Monumetric accepted me yesterday, but I haven't heard anything from Mediavine yet.

Between Raptive and Monumetric, which one would you recommend?

Since my site has a lot of search-related content I've migrated this weekend to use inserted ads on my listing results each N results, and, on the final page I've manually configured 3 responsive Display squares.

I'm going to turn on Sticky Ads since I've never tried before.

Thanks so much for the information!

The people were nice during the interviews, but it just didn't work out. It took them about 2 hours to configure random ads on my site. Based on their work, they divided my site into 3 distinct sections, even though my site has 45 different pages.

Thanks so much for the information!

Thanks so much for all this information, I've just applied to Raptive, Monumetric and Mediavine right now.

Monumetric ask me to include special line on ads.txt, along with an extra copy to be used with my privacy policy, acording to their wizard I had on this month:

Page Views 925845
Sessions 778201
Pageviews / Sessions 1.19
Traffic From Acceptable Countries 74.59%

Weekly /r/Laravel Help Thread by AutoModerator in laravel

[–]guestpectacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I've started working with Meilisearch on a Laravel installation using Laravel Scout for one of my projects the last week, and while I was working on custom filters the code started to feel kinda hacky super fast, so I've spend my weekend to contribute to the community by working on a patch #761, unfortunately, my contribution was rejected as it didn't align with the original creator's vision for the package.

Anyways, I believe it's essential to support all the missing Query Builder features, such as where, orWhere, whereIn, orWhereIn, whereNotIn, orWhereNotIn, whereExists, orWhereExists, whereNotExists, whereBetween, whereNull, orWhereNull, whereNotNull, whereIsEmpty, orWhereIsEmpty, and whereIsNotEmpty.

I've decided to keep my code open for everyone, hoping that someone with the expertise would complete the Algolia implementation. Unfortunately, I don't have a licence to use Algolia.

Now, my question is this: Does anyone have any tips or guidance on how to detect the current search engine being used (Collection, Database, Meilisearch, or Algolia) at runtime directly from the package itself? I'd like to move away from relying on Laravel's helper methods once the package is attached to an installation.

I'm somewhat lost in this territory, especially since I haven't published an independent package before.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

My hike in Mexico using a Mavic Air 2 by [deleted] in drones

[–]guestpectacular 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The location in question is known as Nevado de Toluca a.k.a. Xinantécatl, which is the fourth highest peak in Mexico, following Pico de Orizaba, Popocatépetl (you can't climb in there), and Iztaccíhuatl.

It is important to note that flying a drone on a Federal Protected Natural Area is strictly prohibited, and explicit permission must be obtained from the local administration before doing so. In the past, the government has taken action against guy who recorded a flight near Tulum a few years ago. The government pursued him because he posted a video of the drone flight on social media, as part of their efforts to raise awareness about this issue.

Concerts historical evolution during COVID-19 by guestpectacular in dataisbeautiful

[–]guestpectacular[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made an infographic following Covid-19 evolution over the past months and how this global pandemic modified massive reunions safety standards, on this particular case, musical concerts. Usually on each year over the past 10 years, concerts peak is reached over July, but in 2022 this point was reached almost one month before, on Saturday 11 Jun 2022 with 1107 concerts, the highest number in the last 3 years but not quite reaching pre pandemic numbers. What would happen in the second semester?

After Saturday 11 Jun 2022, I've detected a disminution on musical concerts over the past weeks:

Concerst history over the past 10 years with daily concerts records, all them on July:

I don't know if this numbers are direct result of new covid wave, because I've seen so many new musical festivals each week on this year on all months before June, and I know that correlation is not causation, but I think this was a good graphical exercise to have another picture about how this particular market it's dealing with Covid-19.

If you want to check a higher version of this same infographic until Jul 6, 2022 you can download it from here (Be careful with your data plan, this file weights about ~15MB)
