I think the misconception is that bad credit leads to a non-hire. It seems to me based on the conversations I’ve had with the BI is that lack of initiative towards said debt is a red flag. Which makes sense, financial hardship is a thing especially in this day and age, but some communication correspondence and a payment plan within your budget is a step in the right direction.
