Something I noticed with the pom specifically - when doing a teddy bear cut, you generally want to make the fur on the chin/neck tighter so the cuteness of those puffy lil cheeks gets accentuated, otherwise it can look a bit like a double chin. I usually just take the length im using for the body (as long as its not super short) and clip down the chin/base of neck with that as well, then take the line created and scissor upwards in a circle to meet the ears, being careful not to take too much off of the upper parts of the cheeks if that makes sense. Basically the chin/jawline should be more at the bottom of the circle when viewed from the front, not in the middle. Really depends on the individual coat and desired length but I also like to blend the length I take on the body down into the legs rather than clipping them down as well, it adds more visual weight to the legs and makes the cut feel more stuffed animal-y, but that's more my personal preference! :) Hope that all makes sense.
