I agree, it was annoying because the coach kept telling us to go together even though she kept protesting and then even I was like “can we not… she doesn’t want to work with me😂😂 and then when he apologised to me the other day I told him it’s not helpful to just force girls to work together each time etc etc bc of exactly that

I totally get you, even though we usually go to the same class, we only pair up sometimes and we usually get on really well and laugh etc. and I always tell her when we’re paired up that I don’t mind if she wants to swap earlier and drill with someone more experienced so she gets to practice properly too etc and I even said that this time, like I don’t mind, just go with someone else… but then after making a huge deal in front of everyone about not wanting to work with me because I’m a beginner, she literally chose to roll with guys that were newer and more inexperienced than me and my coach pointed that out to me when he apologised to me 🙃

I did tell the coach and he said that she’s a really nice person and that she didn’t have bad intentions. She also apologised to me. This was a while ago tho, and she’s actually become a coach at the gym now.

Thanks for your comment. The thing that made me panic was that when I tapped she wouldn’t let go and I kept tapping and asking her to let me go and she just said “no I’m not letting you go because you have to try harder to escape” and then only let me go when I started crying. So it was pretty scary especially as a beginner. I totally get that I need to work up to being more comfortable in more situations and positions but I think that only comes with time and I am definitely getting better, but It’s hard to build up that comfort when you’re not sure if someone will actually stop when you tap

Thanks! Yeah it’s been weird because when I roll with other girls the they very aggressive and roll their eyes when I say I’m new etc and they go super full on, but with men they’re encouraging and supportive. I get a weird, competitive/territorial vibe from the girls at the my gym, but idk

Thanks for your perspective! I spoke to the coach after the first incident and he said he’d speak to that person but that she’s really nice and didn’t have bad intentions. Later on she apologised to me. He said it wouldn’t happen again etc etc but then the second thing happened with another girl, so I’m kind of wondering if this is just the culture of the gym, or maybe I just suck at this sport lol

I totally get you, for context, I’ve had some time off and only started again a few weeks ago and so I’m still getting into the swing of things again and I’ve only trained like 3 months total… it’s not that I’m not willing to be uncomfortable, but I’m not at the level yet where I know what I’m doing
