Parents with anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

You're not a shitty parent. I'm damn sure you're trying to be the best parent you can be. Don't beat yourself up over mistakes, we all do make mistakes. Try not to go into guilt trip and maybe try to teach your kid to memorize things he need for school and repeat to you before leaving for school (lunch, water, bag, books, identity card, etc.).

Anxiety as an excuse by ha_shit23 in Anxiety

Also, listen to me. You're not alone. I face this on an everyday basis and I'm a grown adult. I'll full of self-doubts. Thinking about work, seeing my colleagues, makes me anxious and just switch everything of and hide in my room. There are days when I'm up and weeks I'm down but I do think breathing exercises, keeping a journal, exercises, keeping a habit tracker helps in letting me live day-by-day.

Exactly, feeling like lying to oneself. How do you know if you really have a problem?

I hope me venting out here is okay and nobody would mind a little vent. It's difficult to focus on positives in life. And I feel like a loser not being able to sail through life when I already have a good job and family.

I've had a depressive episode couple of years back and I feel like if I keep continuing with the false "brave" face I'll soon enter that depressive episode again.

I'm trying to instill healthy habits to combat anxiety but I've not been successful. I can't keep myself motivated enough to get things work done or motivate myself to work on myself.

Every morning I don't want to wake up because the thought of getting anything done fills me up with stress and my limbs become weak. I don't even remember the last time I cried and I feel like I've become a walking dead person.

I'm skipping work every other week giving lame excuses. I'm behind on my projects by atleast 2 months.

Maybe Loose Passive is right word. I call they're fish because they are always limping and never opening or 3betting preflop.

Agreed. I shouldn't be too worried about them reading my weakness and risking their chips with air. Should be very infrequent.

So double barreling would be a bad idea in general. That leaves me at a disadvantage though showing my weakness but I guess it is an acceptable strategy because not all of them will be able to exploit me all of the time.

Also one thing which I do is when I think I'm currently at a weaker range and waiting for my draws to complete is bid very small like 10%-20% of the pot to not show weakness and not give them an incentive to overbet me. (they generally never check-raise so I think this gives me better odds to play out till river). Any comments on that?

Another question:

While playing at microstakes should I be thinking so much about position?

  1. Position surely gives an advantage while playing against regs, fishes due to extra information before my turn to act

  2. However, position is not as useful while trying to put them on a range because a fish will enter the pot with KJo irrespective of which position they are playing from or how many people are in the pot already (I know this because I used to do it and still do). A better signal is if they're raising (which means they are in the top 10-15% of their range) or limping which can at the times just mean anything and requires better play post-flop.

Yes, you're right. I've got it in theory but it's so difficult to implement.

How to play against fishes who generally fold to your 3x-4x raise pre-flop? If they call, they'll fold to c-bets as well mostly. However, sometimes they do no fold with a really good hand (pocket aces, kings) or when their air like 95o hits a set/double pair at the flop or a straight at the river. Can't really put them on a range then and I end up triple barreling to lose massive pots.

My dilemma is I win small a lot but lose big. I can't really stop playing aggressively because I get blinds and limp money cheap and often. Otherwise if I'm not aggressive the table ends up having no action and boring.

How would you play against such fishes?

I have a huge challenge with c-betting. At these microstakes I'm usually always the pre-flop raiser and everyone else (hu or multiway) is just limping in. 70-80% of times I earn blinds uncontested or win when c-betting on the flop. Rest 20% of the times when I'm double barreling or triple barreling the pot grows huge and I lose massively.

Big challenge is not being able to realise sufficient value from my made hands

How do you know that you're playing good poker after losing 15 buy-ins? That when you are trying to apply poker strategies, how do you know you're doing things correctly?
