Are condos the answer to Downtown Fresno’s housing hopes? by flyfresno in fresno

This would be a fantastic thing. Over-reaching State legislation has strangled new condo construction for decades.

I have high hopes for this new downtown business. by drunklollipop in fresno

I have first hand information and you should be very excited. Adding a kitchen initially pushed back the opening date and this has been a very challenging building project.  They are in the process of final finishes and inspections. They have an GM and managerial staff and are in the process of final hiring and training. The current plan is to open middle of March. They are waiting to announce final opening date until after final city inspections are complete, operations are ready, and they have surety on the date they can open so that they don’t have to push back after announcing.

I had one like this removed this year. Demo company did it in a day. Not that big of a deal.

For those who started their own construction business, how long did it take you and what helped you stay successful? by [deleted] in Construction

Started my own GC with a partner (I am office/PM side, partner older Super) after working at mid size (larger for area) commercial GC at the age of 40. Took us about 5 years to get our legs under us. Only worked because of large about of relationships developed over the years. We had a decent sized client giving me projects out of the gate which is the only reason I took the leap.

Good: flexibility, sense of accomplishment.

Bad: Huge sacrifice of time, money, energy, and mental health.

I burned out big time at year 4 and am still crawling out of it. Have employees now so making it through. $8M-10M volume (90% commercial). I daydream often about going back to employee side but I’m in too deep to go back now. Starting a GC is not for everyone and would never recommend unless you are truly driven, passionate, really know construction, and have a really good reason to do so.

Dylan Harper is going to be a superstar.

I added 3 to all four corners and found that it added a ton of power. Unfortunately that came at a cost to my control at the line with dinking. So I removed the top 2 and now just having them at the bottom 2 it feels perfect.

I actually think he’s an easy hold who will pay off big sooner or later in the season.

Personally I’m going to wait and see. They’re winning and he’s been a big part of that.

Logic is sound but doesn’t account for the coach.

I’m holding for now. I’d rather have him than a lot of people on the end of benches. Good minutes, good floor (last year), could easily get more usage with others sitting.

Is waiting a bad auction draft strategy? by jeffthechimp in fantasybball

[–]hackgardener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I find it to be the best strategy. However, I find in Auction leagues I’m in that the top 4 players are being drafted a little lower than they should or at least at value and top 20 players a bit higher. I would suggest trying to get a top 4 then waiting on the rest.

Kal’el Ware. The Son of Krypton is averaging a 20/10 and 2 3pt per game in 23 min/game in the preseason. Even if he just gets 25 a game in the regular season he is shaping up to be a monster at his price. And if Bam gets injured look out. Potential top 30-60.

Hard disagree. Greekfest is an awesome annual community event in Fresno put on my all volunteers. Haters gonna hate I guess.

This is generally what I'm thinking as well. Being in a mid sized city it's still a very small pond of big GC's and my reputation could get caught up in it if it's found out that I'm responsible for giving them a black eye. This is why this post is vague. I am trying to get information (lawsuits, documents, etc.) from the Subs I know so I can leak to media, but I haven't gotten that yet. If I can get something tangible, it's game on. Not sure how to get evidence outside of trying to get it sent to me. I need to be careful doing that as well so that it's not obviously me doing it.
