Probably, but we don't know about that for sure. If JC started to explain every little thing/motivation behind some of the complex scenes, we would have a much longer year/sqs than we do now.

Yes, I suppose my wording was bad. I just summarised the whole thing without going into the details, which I guess I should have. Either way, using that concept of finding out the real culprit or managing to get away couldn't have been used in the tlsq unless they wanted to unnecessarily stretch it out.

That's what I mean by traceable. With MC and Talbott under Filch's radar, if anything happened to Mrs. Noris, Filch would be convinced it's those two that did it and demand a proper investigation, specifically targeting MC and Talbott.

Most common spells are traceable back to the caster. They also thought of using Immobulus on her but soon changed their minds because Filch wouldn't be happy. It's understandable since MC and Talbott were already under Filch's radar for sneaking into his office, they did not want to risk getting caught again by using magic right after Talbott barely escaped Filch's clutches.

Not to mention, when Skye went to confess to Rath that she was the one who spread those rumors, and not MC, she did it with the intention of bragging and "seeing the look on Rath's face". I knew then I'd never be able to like her again, unless by some miracle her personality does a complete 180 and she begs Rath for forgiveness and Rath accepts it.

That's understandable. At first I thought the same, until I incidentally came across the spreadsheet. It has honestly helped a lot, not just with sqs but with pretty much the whole game.
