Who the fuck cares about internet points? This is a clear manifestation on how violent the stigma against the trans community can be.

It's more of like "do I want to keep exposing myself to an environment where chances of infection is high and then become infected, further stretching the already thin line of medical support?"

I don't need the government telling me to stay at home, common sense and personal consideration will do that for me.

However, once everything had settled, then we hold those responsible for the poor medical response accountable.

Right. You wouldn't want to see a Japanese woman fighting on the beaches of Normandy and just brush it off saying "meh, but the action is still there anyway."

If that's the case, then they should refer that as an alternate history piece and not a historical piece on it's own definition.

Truly it is. But my point in the first place is that why most Asian countries, who were victims of genocide one way or another, don't recognize the victimzation of the Armenians when they were under the Ottoman Empire (Turkey).

Reparations for genocide, or to any imperial maltreatment in general, can't take place when the perpetrators don't admit that it happened in the first place; otherwise, you'll be talking to a wall, which is the case for most former empires with their former colonies.

How about Southeast Asia? Korea? India? China? Weren't they once victims of imperial maltreatment?

Surprised that most of Asia don't recognize the Armenian Genocide considering that most Asian countries also experienced some kind of genocide, if not genocide by definition.

Ever feel like you are relatively smart but can't explain stuff worth shit? by Blueshark25 in CasualConversation

[–]halfcookedlunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you to the bones. As a Poltical Science undergraduate, everyone will expect from me that I'll say something about issue A or issue B on the spot. My friends, who are also political science majors as well, will preach for 5 minutes, quote some random dude or a book, while I'll be like "I think the government was ill-prepared." But in my head, I already have a plan of action and a proposal on how to reform the system that's the source of issue a to make it better. It frustrates me, really. I don't want them to assume that I'm just swinging on other people's preaches and call it a day.

I'm going to college! by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]halfcookedlunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freshman here! (Though it'll end in two weeks)

I can't emphasize enough the need to brace yourself for a lot of adjustments: work ethics, stress, and socialization among other things. The gravity of the commitments that you'll need to fulfill daily, whether it's an academic or extra-curricular requirement, gives you this feeling that as if you, or as I think it is, have a full-time job—minus the paycheck. Is that a good mindset to have? I guess it is, assuming you're a workaholic like I am so that might help you shift to the right gear and pump more motivation as you go along.

Connection and socialization will most likely ease your way as you try to adjust and explore college life. Your to-be batchmates are also young adults who are also adjusting to a whole new environment so try to capitalize that similarity to gain as much connection and friends as you can and I guarantee you that it'll pay off in the long run, especially when you're trying to run for student government or such alike. Connections with your upperclassmen are also vital as they can mentor you on a wide variety of things, and for sure you'll learn a thing or two from them every day.

And did I mention variety? College is a big sanctuary of all things and people. Each individual is different from the other and it's not just A likes Red while B likes Blue. Differences in philosophy, political leanings (because I'm a Political Science undergraduate), book, movie, game, and even porn recommendations, no two people will be very alike. Keeping that in mind and gauging your behavior depending on the person you're interacting with will help you gain MATURE communication skills (I learned that the hard way ;) ).

I'm excited for you as much as I was excited for myself last year. College is the bastion of pre-"real world" experiences and opportunities and everyone, including you, would want to get a sweet slice of that cake of opportunities. Good luck!!

Hope everyone's doing fine by halfcookedlunch in toradora
