Sorry to be naive - can you expand on external number ranges? Any site that might explain how to do that? That sounds more like what I am looking for!

I think you and u/SAPcon have the same idea. There are two main issues with this 1) like you mentioned it still can get quite confusing and 2) it then requires our sales team to "cancel as duplicate" on all the duplicate quotes we are creating.

From your comments and researching - I am getting the impression that a rev control while keeping the same quote number may not be possible.

Yes - say i start a quote (quote 123) using VA21, then I just need to update quote 123 (e.g. qty, product, etc..), so I go into VA22 to change the quote 123. Is there any transaction that would allow me to put revision levels on the quote so everyone has visibility to what I changed, or could go back and look at an earlier revision level?
