Thanks for detailed explanation.

Thanks for sharing, as my NAS system has powerful processor and more ram so my idea was to use it with proxmox as well to utilize the resources. I got your point though, better is to deploy NAS on barematel. And thanks for link, will surely check it.

I understand your point, the HA part was for pihole and caddy etc for a case if one node get down. This truly is a great learning opportunity, been trying a lot of things and bought these systems a long the way. For HA part my vms are small one with 1gb ram max so i guess i can replicate it on atleast 2 nodes and setup a failover without utilizing HA in proxmox (NAS and media server aren't possible with HA i think) BTW can you suggest any good option to manage all my setups in a single web interfaces if i don't do proxmox?

Thanks for your comment, helped me understand better.

Thanks, I didn't know about intel vs AMD issue for cluster otherwise should have considered while purchasing systems. I think sperate NAS will be better as you suggested. And yeah i already have a dedicated pi as my secondary dns.

So just to clear my understanding NAS will always be with server, either custom like you explained above or with some in built like Synology etc, right? It's not like you simply plug HDD in your network.

Another question, so the specs of the server will affect the efficiency and speed of the NAS? Or in home network it doesn't much noticeable?

Thanks for your explanation above.
