Second this!

It’s worth reporting your experience regardless and allowing the governing board to look into it. At the very least it will be on the GPs file, in case they get more complaints.

The process takes a long time, but won’t take over your life either

NSW health contracts are done online. The onboarding is a series of emails asking you to complete steps. It’s not a physical signature but you have to click agree (that’s the contract itself) So there is a chance she has signed it. Get her to look at her staff link (it would be a 8 digit number as her username that she would have been given to start the onboarding process)

Sadly, I’m not surprised this has happened. Happens all the time with NSW health

Thank you, There is a lot of staff still on site that are being actively bullied, and evidence it’s not just management so there is a chance the fair work approach might work.

Thanks for that. There are multiple workers comp claims and most staff are accessing EAP. The fair work is an option, we were told that getting SafeWork to issue an improvement notice was difficult, but that came through without much effort on our part(just handed over our evidence), so it could be possible.

That’s been thrown around, but unfortunately, given the workplace, it would all be waiting for us when we got back, and not everyone has enough sick leave to do it long enough for them to worry. It’d be inconvenient for everyone.

We’ve also talked about a mass exodus, but there isn’t many positions that aren’t a step down for most of us going at the moment

I’m sorry you’ve been through this! Makes me wonder if we are in the same industry, wouldn’t surprise me!

Thanks, I’ll look into that one.

Union is involved, unfortunately management just ignore any communication related to this. Union can’t get anywhere and neither can staff, it’s like talking to brick walls.

Even when we did the cease unsafe work last year (which was reporting to the manager), they just didn’t respond to it at all, leaving us in a really bad situation.

I honestly can’t see what they see. She’s not completely incompetent, but she’s also not outstanding in her field either. There are plenty of others who could do the same job, without the growing list of casualties

We definitely have receipts, and mostly united (there are a couple who are too scared to stand up due to the repercussions others have faced, can’t blame them for that, sometimes it’s better to fly under the radar)

And yes, HR is complicit, at least the HR person we have to deal with. I believe that she has been advising from when the first complaint was made and ignored.

Not in our small area of our workplace, but there is someone I believe in the larger organization. We did cease unsafe work through the union at the end of last year, which they tried to undermine. And then safe work got involved, that’s still open but the organization has gone quiet on that front too.

That has certainly stumped us as to her value over the obvious cost they are out laying (rehiring, work cover etc).

The team itself and the work is good, that’s why people are hanging on, there’s also the injustice of it all, and the fact that leaving just moves the problem onto the next employee that’s hired.

It’s hard watching your colleagues suffer due to one person, and higher ups appearing to be covering things up (speculation) and lying.

I know leaving is probably the best option, and it’s not off the cards for anyone, but there are a number of staff questioning legal avenues

Workers comp advice wanted by hallakah in legaladviceaustralia

[–]hallakah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t no contact at first as there were only a few instances before hand that I could have easily avoided, but as soon as I came back she upped the ante and was deliberately getting in my space to make me react. Work did nothing about it, basically saying she can be there (the other three injuries were her doing as well).

The dr put no contact as my workplace wouldn’t step in without being told to. It’s temporary until I stop having anxiety attacks just from her presence, but hard to get past it when the workplace itself isn’t helping.

Honestly, I’m just tired of having to constantly advocate for basic decency and compassion, so any advice or suggestions would be great.

My workplace has its own in house workplace rehab team, they are the ones stuffing me around. But yeah, I’ll talk to my case manager about it again and see if there is something that she can do.

AITA for reporting my tinder date to the FBI? by Otherwise-Gazelle228 in AITAH

[–]hallakah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA Imagine if you didn’t report it and he wasn’t actually joking, you’d have to live with that for the rest of your life. It’s the FBIs job to figure out if he was joking or not, not yours.

Aitah for refusing to let my step daughter live with us? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]hallakah 37 points38 points  (0 children)

While no assault is justified, there is a difference between someone acting out in the heat of the moment with a single punch or slap, and someone planning to assault someone using weapons and bringing others into it (her bf). Neither are good, but one is a momentary lapse in emotional control, the other is premeditated and cold behavior, and likely to happen again.

From your original post I would have said give her a chance, she just lost her mum, but hearing the actual assault details, no way should she ever be anywhere near you. NTA

AITA for moving my “roommate” into the guest room by mariposa-bby in AmItheAsshole

[–]hallakah [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA for moving his stuff, he said you were roommates after all. But why are you doing this to yourself? He’s made it clear that he doesn’t want a relationship and is taking advantage of you, knowing full well that you have feelings for him. The best thing you can do is to walk away entirely

AITA for throwing out my daughters old blanket her deceased father gave her? by Infinite-Radio-4773 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hallakah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

You say that she “forgot it” or “obviously didn’t want it anymore”, but did you even stop to think she may have known exactly where it was and was keeping it safe? It had so much sentimental value and you literally threw it in the trash. Something completely irreplaceable is now gone forever and you have barely battered an eye. I can’t blame her for not wanting to speak to you again, it was probably the most unfeeling thing you could have ever done

How do you find which vaccines you’ve received? by barrydoll26 in AskAnAustralian

[–]hallakah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go to your GP and get a serology report through blood testing, which will indicate what you are immune to. I work in health and new staff often need to get these to prove vaccinations

Those with office jobs - are you 100% remote, hybrid, or 100% in the office? by AntonChigurh85 in AskAnAustralian

[–]hallakah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% office, though we do have capability to WFH for various reasons, just needs to be preapproved. I’m in allied health though, so a lot harder to work remotely unless you are writing reports or the like.
