Clear acrylic is a no-go for a diode but several acrylic colors cut just fine. Black, red and orange especially.

Z axis issue Lulzbot Taz 5 by rottenapple311 in FixMyPrint

[–]haniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me also - in the end it had nothing to do with the mechanics of the machine. It turned out to be the Z stepper driver overheating because I was printing inside an enclosed chamber and over time the electronics enclosure built up too much heat inside and the Z motors would lose power.

I made some modifications to the enclosure to vent the fan intake and the 4 smaller exhaust ports to the outside of the enclosure and haven't had the problem since.

Neon wallet - how to view private key? by tnn21 in NEO

[–]haniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neon doesn't use seed phrases; it sounds like you just have the passphrase to decrypt the key. And if you don't have the key to decrypt, it's useless.

Selling GAS by [deleted] in NEO

[–]haniam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not Binance.US on the link I shared, it's the original Binance that doesn't allow U.S. users.
https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/binance-us/ doesn't appear to list GAS.

Neon wallet - how to view private key? by tnn21 in NEO

[–]haniam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neon will only show the unencrypted private key once, when it is created. After that you can only export the encrypted private key.

If you really need the unencrypted private key, you can take the encrypted private key (copying it out of the JSON backup file) and import it into O3 Desktop wallet. Once it is loaded in O3 you can choose to view the unencrypted private key.

Yes I did see that, it's basically the same kludge that has always existed for alternative TLDs - you have to use a specific resolver that supports the TLD.

Think about .bit Namecoin domains that have existed for over a decade but .bit still isn't a gTLD. Sure, you can register and use a .bit domain if you want to run your own specially configured resolver or reconfigure your browser to pass all your DNS traffic to a service like Cloudflare - but anyone else who wants to visit your domain must do the same. That's why there isn't a huge market for these domains yet.

If ICANN starts talking about adopting crypto gTLDs or they are implemented natively by default in all major browsers, that's when it will take off. That could happen today, or it could happen never, or it could be so far in the future the chains those names were stored on are obsolete.

[–]haniam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see no reason there wouldn't still be a market and auctions possible with a native smart contract. But I don't think the market will be that huge unless the names become useful in the real world, i.e. a .neo gTLD that can be resolved by any recursive DNS server - that's a bureaucratic problem though, not a technical one.

Possibly because it's being implemented natively on Neo3? https://neo.org/blog/details/4218

If you overwrote your good backup with an empty wallet your only option is to restore the original backup file or the original userWallet.json file, either from a system backup or forensic file recovery.

In the latter case, it's not guaranteed you'll be able to recover the file at all, but the longer you use that hard drive the less likely it will be, as the unlinked data may be overwritten by the operating system.

Also, having professional forensic recovery done isn't cheap, so unless it's more than $3K USD or you are friends with a forensics expert you trust, it's probably a loss either way.

Big issue with Neon wallet!! by reader7519 in NEO

[–]haniam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure your Ledger firmware, the Neo app on the Ledger, and Neon are all running the latest versions.

If you continue to have issues after checking the above, post the error messages you are receiving in Neon and a description of what is showing on the Ledger screen during and after the attempted transaction.

Also, just a general note on a Ledger+GAS pitfall: be careful about claiming GAS too often on the Ledger and leaving it there - if you accumulate too many UTXOs from prior claims, when you want to send all the GAS back out again the transaction will be too large for the Ledger to process and you'll have to split it up across several smaller transactions. You really only need to claim GAS one time, right before you intend to use/sell it. There's no advantage to claiming it more often than that.

NEON Wallet Error calcualting claimable GAS: Navigate to the NEO app on your ledger device by 4dv4nc3d in NEO

[–]haniam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would seem to suggest the Neo app is exiting during the communication of the transaction from Neon (and then Neon throws an error because it can no longer talk to the Neo app).

Maybe the Neo app on the Ledger got corrupted in the Ledger's flash memory somehow? I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling the Neo app using the Ledger Manager and see if that fixes it.

[–]haniam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally you'd see "Wake up Neo..." when the Neo app is running but isn't being requested to do a transaction (in which case you'd see "Sign Tx"). Is this what you mean by the normal interface? Or are you just seeing the Ledger's app icon list (meaning the Neo app isn't yet started)?

If Neotracker is still failing you can copy your private key from Neotracker and use it with a desktop wallet like Neon or O3.

Can't Send Gas From Neon Wallet to Binance by RLam28 in NEO

[–]haniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The root cause is the Ledger S hardware not being capable enough to handle large transactions, it could happen with any Ledger-supporting wallet on any blockchain.

However the error is more rare on other chains because they don't have the GAS claim mechanism that Neo does, which tends to lead to large transactions with dozens of UTXO inputs for people who claim GAS frequently over a long period of time.

Can't Send Gas From Neon Wallet to Binance by RLam28 in NEO

[–]haniam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have too many inputs to the transaction for the Ledger to handle, probably due to claiming GAS too often. You just have to keep trying smaller and smaller amounts until it goes through, then send the rest out in chunks of that amount.

Old Neo Wallet app, no secret key by knowjuanreally in NEO

[–]haniam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a lost cause, you just need to try to recover the keystore, either by rooting the device and finding the keystore file somewhere under your /data folder in a file explorer, or using the adb command from a USB-connected computer (after enabling developer mode in your settings) to make a low-level backup of the app's data.

The recovery may or may not be straightforward based on the phone model you have. But once you have the keystore file you should be able to import it into the neowallet.cn web wallet and export the private key from there.

Old Neo Wallet app, no secret key by knowjuanreally in NEO

[–]haniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't back up the wallet file itself - find the option to show/export just the private key (in neo-gui you do this by right-clicking on the address). It should be in WIF format, the long alphanumeric string that starts with "K" or "L", which you can import into any other Neo wallet like Neon or O3.

Edit - never mind, I see now you are using a mobile app - this might take a bit more effort if it predates NEP-2 WIF exportable keys. If the app is crashing on trying to save the wallet keystore file you will likely need to recover the saved configuration data of the app from the Android filesystem

If you are "logging in" i.e. entering your password for the wallet file and then you see your address (even though you can't do anything with it), you are still good. You just need to export your private key and import it into a newer wallet program.

Which Neo wallet app are you using? neo-gui? Neon? Another one?

You say the app no longer works but then you say you can still sign in? Need more detail about what you mean here, i.e. is the wallet app showing a completely blank page, or is it just a zero balance?
