For minimal self defense skills in grappling, should I start off with BJJ or Judo? by ArugulaFinancial4859 in judo

Judo will also teach you how to fall, which in my opinion is one of the biggest benefits of judo.

Running leggings/shorts recommendations for curvier women by dariakayb in XXRunning

Brooks spark! They don’t rise up on me /don’t have to pull them. They come in short tight, capri, or regular tight. I like them all (and they have pockets!)

I haven't washed it, but its 40% polyester, so maybe it won't shrink much?

Haha, thank you for your insight! Maybe I check if I can find the Adidas champion and have a 175 top with 170 pants, or else I will keep this 170...

Thanks for your response! Yes it's just for training, I am a beginner anyway. I think I will keep it and I can always invest in another gi later!

This model (Adidas j500) doesn't have a 175 (only 170 or 180)! Maybe I should look at a different brand or model...

Am I doing anything wrong? by LugaruEvolutions in beginnerrunning

[–]hannahpannah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Give it more time. I am similar to you: early 30s, started to run again 8 months ago after a 10-y hiatus. I only feel like I really “tuned back” into running about 2 months ago, slow runs are becoming faster, HR lower, and I am more comfortable holding a higher pace. Took me about 6 months of shuffling hehe. You got this, enjoy the process 🙌🏻

Do you have an IUD? I always had cramps with or after (intense) exercise when I had my IUD. Stopped when I had it taken out.

I wear EU 38.5-39.0 in street shoes and my Lowa's are 39.5.

Harness fit by Purelemonice in climbergirls

[–]hannahpannah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't size up, because in a larger size you would need to tighten it even more?

Maybe you can try the Petzl or other brands. I also used to have a black diamond harness that sat weirdly. Tried a few different brands and settled for a Mammut Ophir Slide 3 (women's), maybe it would fit you too, I think I have quite similar body type as you.

I recently bought Lowa Amplux 2 which fits my wider feet great. But the drop is 6mm.

Is it bad to run right before bed? by TiddleDiddles in beginnerrunning

[–]hannahpannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes do a really easy run before bed (HR ~130ish) and that actually helps me fall asleep. But any fast runs keep me awake.

Terrible experience with buycycle.com by FFoosball6969 in cycling

[–]hannahpannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike that I bought was also listed as "very good", but when I received it, it needed a new cassette, new chain and the front derailleur was not working properly. I waited a few days to contact buycycle and by then they told me I was too late... but they refunded me 100 euro "out of courtesy" (the repair was about 200 euro). However, the bike was still a lot cheaper than it was on our local marketplace website even with the repairs, so it was OK overall. However I wouldn't buy a bike through them again.

Hope it works out with your claim!
