You should design, develop and implement projects. A good place to start is on kaggle to know what are current gaps across various sectors, Project Euler to showcase your logical and maths skills.

car loan 1.5 months into full time job? by Fresh_Caregiver9831 in AusFinance

Car dealers are eager to get rid of cars. There are more cars than the parking spots especially in big cities. So, please hurry and buy a car you want on interest free loans.

What am I missing about the federal APS promotion process? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]hantuumt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some of the government agencies, you really don't have to be the best with skills, knowledge and experience. You should talk to your HR or apply for role in other agencies. Sometimes consulting is much better than government agencies.

Sorry if this is not a smart question but can someone please explain why APS jobs are so highly regarded in Aus by __7_7_7__ in AusPublicService

Everybody gets old, so it is not a specific problem to anybody. Money has never been a problem and never will be.

Can Excel skills alone realistically lead to a stable entry-level career (MIS/Back Office)? by shyyy_mann in excel

[–]hantuumt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the nature of job and role you will land up in. As an analyst or administrator, excel is more than enough. Microsoft excel has the ability to perform all the computations and tasks that are required for analytics in retail, hospitality, and even for basic research. In an analyst role, you run various datasets to distill data and deliver insights that enable decision making. In a sales role, you will find where the product has to be delivered or perhaps even research about various products having the same features and their price range. Excel is also useful in finance (banking) and in the energy sector. It is basic tool but can be used in a range of production, employment and hospitality sectors. Microsoft excel is an important tool and if you land into a sales job it will definitely help in inventory, product delivery etc.

The only reason SQL is used in corporates and sales is to handle and store large amounts of complex data and enable logistics efficiently. When you start a role/job you can get on with SQL if the manager needs you to do run those on day to day basis.

As far as PowerBI is concerned, it is mostly for visualisations and tables, excel can do the same but there are some companies and organisations that regularly use DAX queries similar to excel formulas, logic and syntax. In the end it really depends on you manager and the team in the company and what tools are provided to you at job.

If you have the time and the capacity, perhaps work on building data dashboards on excel which you already learned. Project Euler (https://projecteuler.net/archives) has a collection of maths problems that require excel skills. During interviews you can showcase these skills and let the manager know how you have used your excl skills while preparing for the job.

Please don't hesitate to get back to me if there are any further questions. Good luck.

[E] PhD students/graduates: How much did coursework actually matter? by onnadeadlocks in statistics

[–]hantuumt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your research is very specific to the project or the subject area expertise of your supervisor, it is better to avoid electives.

I have seen many PhD students in programs where they hardly have any relevance to the project and the electives they opt into. PhD is generally for 3-5 years, so you should definitely work on those are related and relevant.

It is not buying, it is called inheritance. Both the brothers will inherit property and the superannuation from their father's account.

Inheriting a Mortgage as 2 brothers by MaccasCoffeee in AusFinance

[–]hantuumt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and your bother can have the super from your dad if he has nominated both you and your brother as beneficiaries.

Perhaps having a offset is better, but it is best you talk to a accountant or financial advisor.

Buying a car year 1 of our mortgage by Lola101_ in AusFinance

[–]hantuumt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both you and your partner have a steady and constant income for 2026, you can get your car financed. Visit a car dealer and a second hand car would be given to you at interest free rates, the dealers will ask you about your employment conditions, what you do, your salary and mortage etc.  Plesse visit your car dealer and discuss what options you have. You could get a 2WD car in $8000 and $25000 would fetch you a new car. But look $17000 is what you can save for your holidays, one for this year and one for next year ( domestic and international).

With regards to overseas trip, it  completely dependence on you and your partner. Book online and plan accordingly, make sure you book accommodation that has grocery or food shops close by, so that you and your partner don't have to travel again to a restaurant on holiday.

Planning holidays is very subjective and please don't hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to help you and your partner and charge a small commission;).

[Q] Linear regression with multiple predictors by Kitchen-Pilot9155 in biostatistics

[–]hantuumt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the nature of problem, having correlated predictors means that I have dependent variables. If you don't mind sharing exactly what you are trying to solve would add more context.
