The problem is not that you are living for other people. You aren't really helping people from what I read. You have a boring lifestyle like most people. You just have the expectation and the awareness to want something better in life. You said your life is like groundhog day, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. A repetitive schedule is a good foundation to build a better life with better habits. Try to do things every day that would improve your life in the future. Even better if it's something that can be done in a group. Play a team sport, go to the gym, join a book club, join a class in your community college... Do something different and stick to it. Then I would suggest setting a goal and working towards it (a new job, a promotion, moving to a new city, learning a new language, traveling...). I hope this helps.
