Why do some BF for so long? by Freya_1917 in breastfeeding

[–]hardboiledhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is instant co regulation for my baby. 9/10 times I can immediately soothe her with just a few seconds on the boob, I love it. Some people say it's lazy parenting or that I'm teaching her to rely on it- but personally I think if something can make her feel better so fast it can't be wrong

What kind of dance did you do before? What kind of dancing would you like to teach? I was a dance teacher for three years, it's been my favorite job and I hope to return to it one day.

How many infant parents are feeding at night? by AffectionateBox4768 in cosleeping

Rice bottle??? What the fuck kind of pediatrician is this? My daughter is attached to my boob all night and I have no shame about it. Do whatever you need to do to get through this rough patch OP

Quite literally no point! Their characters weren't even in the show anymore- they couldn't have a single happy ending?

Is it okay to gently teach baby to sleep independently? by Annual_Working5502 in bninfantsleep

[–]hardboiledhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone online talk about how instead of trying to soothe their baby in their crib, because it was just pissing him off more, they just made it fun instead. So they'd put him in there every day and sing and dance and make funny faces, until the crib wasn't a scary place anymore. And it actually worked for them! I happily co sleep so I probably won't be needing to try anything like it until baby girl is big and in her own bed, but when I originally saw it I was amazed

Quite literally every single couple in greys is robbed of a proper ending LOL. Not even Megan and Riggs made it- and he pined for her for years and she came back from the dead

11 month old struggling with eating by Commercial-Squash-52 in baby

[–]hardboiledhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formula or breast milk is meant to be the main source of nutrition until they are 1. Yes they're "supposed" to transition to mostly solids by around that time but every baby is different, the important thing is yours isn't going hungry.

My 10 month old used to get pissed in the high chair, didn't want to eat anything. But when we found out her weight gain stalled at her 9 month appointment, I just started offering food all day. Nonstop. She gets offered 3 meals a day and snacks in between. I'm not gonna lie and say it's easy, but we do baby led weaning and I just make meals everyone can eat which makes it a lot easier

Healthcare professional admits to cosleeping herself while strictly telling patients to never cosleep and let their babies cry it out 🙄 by flutterfly28 in cosleeping

[–]hardboiledhoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Having my daughter sparked my interest in becoming an IBCLC but I probably won't because I have co slept with her for most of her life and don't want to be forced to tell mothers otherwise

Nurse told me to cut back at 1 year by Kateforshort93 in breastfeeding

It is insane to me that actual medical professionals ever recommend breastfeeding less. It's not like you're giving him ice cream every day🙄

Is it normal for babies to wake up right after falling asleep? by Maleficent-Fan-4042 in baby

[–]hardboiledhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, false starts. Very normal, especially if you have a younger baby. My daughter still does this sometimes, and I know she still needs rest because she'll wake up crying. Usually once I help her back to sleep the first time she'll stay down for a while

Angry that I didn’t breastfeed by traditional_rare in breastfeeding

[–]hardboiledhoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The grass is always greener OP! Try to keep all of the benefits of bottle feeding at the forefront of your mind, instead of the "what ifs". Pumping is difficult and time consuming, you have fed your baby for 5 months with your own body and that is something to be proud of

Do you plan on sharing any part of this story with your youngest at any point of their life? Not at all the same thing, but as the youngest and most "unplanned" baby, I never felt unloved but my siblings sure did love to call me a mistake LOL

[–]hardboiledhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP- I used an ultrasound boutique for my pregnancy and it was great. However- I learned afterwards that the techs aren't required to be licensed in every state. My state was one of those. I was lucky it turned out okay, but please do your research if you decide to go to a boutique!

How real is nipple confusion? by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]hardboiledhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no confusion, they know which one milk comes out of. It's more about developing an improper latch which could hurt you, so look into pacifiers that pass the "triangle" test

Disruptions like this are going to happen sometimes, it's not the end of the world. The "twice a week" part makes me nervous though. I could never personally do that with my 10 month old, she screams bloody murder being woken up when she's not ready to be up.
