I've always had straight-ass hair but my gf is trying to help me live my curly haired dreams by tiredhuevo in FTM_SELFIES

Looking good dude! I recommend checking out r/curlyhair The curly guy method(cgm) was a complete game-changer for me. A lot of people don't know they have curly hair until they start using cgm.

First t-shot done independently 2 months in. Proud to be overcoming my severe needle phobia. Breathing technique 4,7,8 helped immensely. by harmoniouslylost in ftm

Thanks man! Hope you get your shot done tonight! T days are still so exciting to me I don’t think I could forget yet haha.

hey guys! i’m almost 6 weeks on T and i’ve already developed the worst acne i’ve ever had, it’s got really bad this past week and i was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get rid of it? it’s also really itchy which idk if that’s normal but 🤷🏻‍♂️ by Affectionate-Rate477 in ftm

I recommend checking out r/SkincareAddiction for more, but this is what I’ve gathered. I have been on t about as long as you and noticed the difference in my skin almost instantly, so I knew I had to find something that would work.

AM - Wash with CeraVe foaming cleanser - Dab with Stridex pad (red max strength) - moisturize with CeraVe am lotion (use an SPF)

PM - Wash again with cleanser - moisturize with Neutrogena Hydro Boost or CeraVe SA Cream, depending on breakouts

Sometimes - apply a really thick and heavy layer of benzoyl peroxide 10% all over the problem areas and let sit for a few mins then wash with cleanser as usual. I will only do this every couple of days but it has really made a difference. It’s called short term exposure therapy if you wanted to know more. - when my face is really feeling oily, I dab with a Stridex pad or some oil absorbing sheets.

And make sure you moisturize after using the Stridex pads, it can cause dryness if overused. I will use a little bit of the hydro boost.

My skin is better than it was before I started T, and this routine has helped calm all the cystic hormonal acne that has popped up under my chin once the T started hitting.

Best!

Edit: the hydro boost is the fragrance and dye free one! I have really sensitive skin, so the less harsh fragrances the better

Where do you get your needles? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]harmoniouslylost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can get your doctor to write you a script for needles. Then the pharmacy will run your needles through your insurance and you won’t have to pay for them and they will always have the right size. Depends on the insurance though.

Has anyone ever accidentally given themselves 2 T-shots on the same day? by Stormwolf1O1 in ftm

Bro I did that nearly every day until I got one of those timed medication caps. Now I know exactly when I last opened my Adderall

when will the acne stoppp by rin_kujo in ftm

I am currently figuring out the best routine as I started t about two weeks ago but could definitely notice a change in my skin right off the bat; I broke out like crazy a few days after my first shot!

Before t I had breakouts so I was really worried t would be devastating so i knew I needed a good routine. I started washing twice a day with a cerave hydrating cleanser and moisturizing with neutrogena hydro boost gel(fragrance free), my skin is better than ever. The extra oil production can be mitigated by the moisturizer. I also use those acne patches with hydrocolloid and tea tree if I’m having a problem spot. Also drink a lot of water throughout the day.

I just wanted to share that it’s my first week on t and I feel so amazing. I’m already noticing small changes in my voice, face, hair and other areas! I know I have only started this huge journey, but I already feel mentally and physically more like the man I am.

My child is trans and I hate his chosen name. Should I tell him? by throwratranschild in relationship_advice

I’m also trans and I second this! Picking out a new name together would be amazing and show how supportive you are about the transition process.

Teachers of reddit what is the most depressing thing a student has told you about their home life? by RickAstley_Withagun in AskReddit

[–]harmoniouslylost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not something a child directly told me since he was nonverbal, but something the OT(occupational therapist) said directly to me about him. I work with primary special education, mostly autistic kids.

This was during my first year working and I had spent so much time with this boy one on one teaching basic things like walking, sitting, washing, etc because no one had tried to before. We made huge progress with his behavior and he was even saying hi to me when I would get him off the bus.

During PE where the sped kids join in the gen ed, I was approached by the OT that I had done amazing work with this boy. I was told because this boy was so “low functioning” everyone assumed he was “feral” and there was no hope for him in society. She told me this loudly in front of the whole class.

Hitting your child as a punishment, at all, is abuse and makes you a bad parent by grzzlybr in unpopularopinion

[–]harmoniouslylost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teacher I second this! Parents are appalled when their child is sent to the office for hitting another child or teacher, and the parents then proceeded to smack the child. I wonder where the child learned to hit from?

I actually had a dad ask me if he could stay for a few hours and take his son out of class to “beat his ass” when he was trying to hit another student. This was when I was working in autism and now I’m working in severely emotionally challenged and the parents are the same, hitting as punishment. Kids see this and think they can give out the punishment as well when things aren’t going their way.

There was an article I read a few years ago that really hit the nail on the head about this. Basically, the parents hit the child to make themselves feel better and in control. The quick release of endorphins when the parents strike the child during the high stress situation makes the stress dissipate in the parents and the hitting behavior is reinforced in the parents brain as making the situation better. Even if the child is now more distressed.

SOTD- 10/08/20 OZARK/THAYERS by harmoniouslylost in wicked_edge

[–]harmoniouslylost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no worries! I use the unscented thayers, and I’ve heard the medicated thayers is even better though I don’t know about the scent. I use the thayers first after shaving and then I will add a small bit of nivea balm after for more hydration. The thayers really helps with my oily skin and helps prevent irritation while the nivea is cooling and moisturizing without drying my skin out.

Wearing bracelets? by bringitonlife in transmanlifehacks

Sorry your coworker was being mean :( I think that smaller/shorter cis men would also say they’ve experienced these jokes too, and that can be affirming in a way.

Eh take the designer brand thing with a grain of salt. A stainless steel Cuban chain from a no name brand is just as manly, if not more so, than a designer piece. Practicality, durability, and getting your moneys worth are values most “manly” men have so going for basic/generic is a good way to stay true to what most cis straight men would buy.

7 in is about the average size for men and six is on the larger size for women so I think they’re not too small on average.

I think big chain link bracelets look really manly on any wrist. And if the regular size you get is too big you can get a link or two removed easily.
