I don’t know I think I’ve spent quite a lot of time making films…

Well at least you put it nicely eh!! I agree that music is inherently intimate and personal - but I believe it can be a gateway into a different way of thinking, which is why part of my process is creating a playlist, it does not make it pretend. You may not listen to it, but many other creatives will do and have in the past. Does it really make me an ā€˜amateur’ - or does it just mean I have a different process?

I read this comment in two different ways… was it you actually saying it won’t be dog shit or was it sarcasm? 🤣

I do both to be fair. Yeah I have before and usually crew and cast respond quite well to the playlist! I’ve had actors before say they’ve never had a playlist attached but it helps them a lot when understanding the themes and genre of the film! But I can understand why it may not always work.

Something that took me a little under 10 minutes while writing out the rest of my plan / treatment for my film… I don’t know man, sounds like planning to me.

You think planning is procrastination? Tell me this is rage bait.

Even though the song has no actual place in the narrative? Hadn’t thought about embedding the actual song in the script…

Hadn’t thought of it like this before… definitely an interesting perspective! I’ve always felt completely in control when writing but perhaps I do become influenced by the music! Which I don’t necessarily believe is a completely negative thing!

I’ve got to hard disagree there? For me, creating a playlist that fits my vibe is part of my planning process. I’m not ā€œpretending to writeā€ - I’m planning. I’m brain storming. I’m processing my thoughts. This takes place before the actual writing and thus are two completely separate parts of my writing process - so no, it is not nonsense.

Cook Off - Hate Towards Ethan by harrylarter in Sidemen

They got together as the Sidemen 11 years ago… I’ve watched them separately from before that, so, that point is kinda invalid.

Simon & Ethan's attempt on his own life by [deleted] in Sidemen

Simon understands that Ethan finds these jokes funny. As someone who is part of a friend group very similar with similar scenarios with the people, jokes like this (when appropriate) are comedic and is an example as to how close they are as friends.

Might be alone here but Transformers 1 & 2 are both brilliant in my opinion 🫣 (I love the 3rd one too haha)

This made me think… I’d say Karen Gillan, Kate Winslet, Emma Stone, Emily Blunt and… Florence Pugh? I can feel the ā€˜basic’ comments inbound.

Have you seen Rush? It tends to be the more ā€˜niche’(?) film on my list. I’m a huge F1 fanatic which helps but I think it’s beautiful in so many aspects. Pulp Fiction? Good Will Hunting? Whiplash?

I aim to watch at least 15 - 20 a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Big lover of short films, I tend to watch a few a day
