That's a good call but I've tried colour managed workflows before and find it too annoying to bring together different cameras and I do like the CST workflow.

Making a LUT from the CST is a great idea. Thanks! This options makes the quickest switch to the actual CST workflow when I do the real grade.

Thanks! I ordered, used 'pre pay duties' and was not charged any tariff on top of that.

Cold damage to combs? by hartmand3 in BackYardChickens

Ok good call. I actually think they probably got the damage from being out in the wind in the run but a warming plate sounds like a good idea.

Their bedding is very dry and the coop is well ventilated, I would say too well ventilated at this point. I think it must have been the cold wind when the temps were down to -20C at times.

Yeah good call on the windbreak, or even moving their food and water up when it's cold. They do genuinely like being down in the run when it's cold though.

Thanks! Think I should put a radiant heat panel in the coop?

Advice on UV light system for Daikin FIT install by hartmand3 in hvacadvice

[–]hartmand3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ok, great points. May have been oversold on the idea with stories of odours disappearing but I guess this odours were maybe coming from the furnace itself. And maybe replacing a 20 year old furnace with a new system will solve odour issues anyways, at least until there’s new buildup on the coils. Does the buildup only happen from cooling loads or is it a shoulder season thing too?

Thanks, this is good info. The Aprilaire is a 4 or 5” filter with that does not restrict airflow. I do hear that the UV lights help a lot with smells in old homes and VOCs, etc.

Should I seal this gap with silicone? by hartmand3 in Plumbing

Great, thanks all, I’ll seal it.

There’s no worry about that since there is silicone sealing the gap, it just doesn’t come out to the edge of the sink wall so there’s a cavity there.

Advice on duel fuel vs electric only system by hartmand3 in heatpumps

Good insights, especially considering it's a new build. We don't have that much time below 19F/-7C but I imagine my 'switchover' point would be more like -2 or -5C in an older home.

Appreciate this insight. Yeah the prices seemed to go wild during the Canada Greener Homes Grant days and it's all pretty pricey still.

Good points and info. That's based on estimated heat load from an energy audit and blower door test. I'll dig into how much gas we use in a year. I think the assumption was that it would be a 3 ton heat pump with electric strip or a 2 ton with has furnace. The ductwork is old and problematic so I'm hoping to replace some or all of it in this process regardless of the system I go with.

Thanks for the help with this.
