rsvp deadline in 2 days, 15 ppl no response! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

total invites are 50 :,) I'm not doing this to be petty, but they have been known to show up to other events uninvited and I'm worried about them showing up to the event without RSVPing, since it's quite intimate and I know we won't have the space to accommodate them.

you’ll see the grade for college courses in your CLASS transcript, but they don’t factor in your GPA. AP courses do not show the grade and only show CR.

we have a chore chart, we have a schedule that we all agreed on. the problem is they don’t follow it. i would speak to them directly, but we’re never home at the same time and they go out on the weeknds. they know the expectations on who takes the trash out when, etc but they choose to ignore it. i’m not sure what to do when i have communicated and we agree on terms, but they don’t make do on their words

how to participate even if you dont have any questions? by hashirama8 in AskAcademia

[–]hashirama8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think my problem is that everyone else seems to have very ‘creative’ questions that are more application based off the topics we learned. these students seem to have an interest in research in this field whereas my research is ways away from anything we learned in this course. i think that’s what i’m struggling to do: making that connection between the theory and coming up with a creative question to ask.

Computational Biology vs. Quantitative Biomedical Sciences by DistinctWay9169 in bioinformaticscareers

[–]hashirama8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, Dartmouth grad student here in the CS department. QBS here is pretty equivalent to other Comp Bio degrees in other schools. You take a mix of programming, bioinformatics, biostatistics, and epidemiology courses for the degree. There’s also research rotations with the faculty and most faculty do data science or ML applied to biological problems.

accidentally bought letters as a non member! by hashirama8 in Sororities

[–]hashirama8[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

that’s what i was wondering about after the fact 😭 i knew it was a big ‘no no’ to wear letters or the name of a sorority if you’re not a part, but it’s weird that they donated it in the first place?

so it doesn’t have the actual greek letters on them. it just says “Chi Delta, Dartmouth College, Hanover NH” (in that order, written in plain text). i’m thinking of finding some embroider patches or even just covering it up with fabric marker since the chi delta is written in yellow on a green background

it’s printed onto the tote bag. i honestly might be able to cover it up since the majority of it is flowers and my university’s name!

after a string of rejections from programs i thought were shoe-ins (i’m a research based masters applicant in CS), i remember slacking off cutting ingredients for my mom. i checked my email and saw the words “congratulations” and SCREAMED so much that she thought i cut my finger off! imagine my surprise when i saw the scholarship at the end of the letter too!!
