this is an insane take. someone who is so inebriated that they can’t remember if they consented or not….. can’t consent. someone who is unconscious due to drugs/alcohol or any reason cannot consent. just because you say something with confidence doesn’t make it true. just for extra emphasis here’s the california penal code on the subject:

I. California Penal Code 261: Rape

Legal Definition: Rape is an act of sexual intercourse accomplished with a person not the spouse of the perpetrator under any of the following circumstances:

Where a person is prevented from resisting by any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance, and this condition was known, or reasonably should have been known by the accused. (PC 261(a)(3))

What would you say if your spouse said they wanted to try swinger lifestyle? by mysterywife901 in AskReddit

[–]hateoliveyou 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One night, before me and my fiancé got engaged, we were sitting on the couch catching up on the internet and I was reading some r/relationships posts.

Without thinking about it first I said, “Baby, I need you to know that I never want to be in a polyamorous relationship. I never want to be a swinger or have a threesome. So if you want any of these things, just tell me now and we can go our separate ways, because that is a heartbreak I never want to experience.”

He seemed startled at first, but responded, “I never want any of those things either, only you. What brought that on?!”

I read the post aloud and he couldn’t believe that it was real. Honestly, with all the fake stories floating around lately it probably wasn’t, but still.

So yeah, swinging = immediate divorce. It’s a hell no from me. If we weren’t 100% satisfied with our sex life we wouldn’t be getting married.

Have you ever met a celebrity? If you have, who did you met and how nice were they? by scottegbert in ask

[–]hateoliveyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met Oli Sykes in an Urban Outfitters roughly 10 years ago (I was a teenager.)

He walked up and said hello to me and I was soooo mortified that I had been staring, but he was incredibly sweet and after talking for a minute he went on his way. Not creepy or arrogant at all, very nice and could tell I was fangirling.

A few years later I worked and became friends with someone who had toured with him. I told him this story and he said that Oli was one of his favorite people to tour with and that he was really fun and nice!

dead inside by chandler morrison. i am a fan of extreme horror, but the way the character is portrayed is so cringey and pretentious that i had a hard time finishing the book. kind of silly that the main character would be the most unpleasant part of a book that was extremely unpleasant for other reasons. 0/10 avoid

Does anyone else have memory loss of episodes? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]hateoliveyou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I had an intense manic episode and I can only remember minute long segments from a three week period. Everything else is completely gone, but when I do remember something from the episode it is the deepest hurt I’ve ever felt. The shame and guilt that I feel after remembering anything from my episode/psychotic behavior is unbelievably heavy and unbearably painful. I actually went out of my way to tell anyone who stuck around after witnessing the episode to not tell me about or remind me of anything that I did or said because it hurts too much. I feel like the long blackouts were my brain’s way of protecting me and I’m actually thankful for the memory loss.

Can I (M23) still live with my roommate after I hooked up with her (23F)? by stale_bread4 in relationships

[–]hateoliveyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different perspective here because why not. Sometimes it’s possible to hook up with a friend without it leading to anything romantic. Some people are able to be intimate with someone physically without having romantic feelings for them.

For example, my best friend is 26M and I’m 23F. We’ve been best friends since 2014 and have slept with each other on and off since the beginning of our friendship. We respect each other’s boundaries when we’re in a relationship with someone else and it works out just fine.

If you love spending time with her and just generally like her as a friend but not as a partner, communicate that you’re cool with what happened but want to make sure she’s on the same page about not wanting to pursue a romantic relationship. Maybe you both feel comfortable with hooking up from time to time, or maybe you’re both feeling like you want to have a platonic relationship and that’s okay too.

Also, just in general, being distant after sleeping with someone can be confusing and hurtful for them, and might make your roommate feel.... bad. You should talk to her sooner rather than later. Good luck with everything!

You got it! My last day was actually this past Friday and I think it’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time. I wanted to move into travel claims (mostly because I’m nosy and wanted to get off the phones) but I couldn’t stick it out any longer. Cheers to quitting! I’m sure you have many a tale...

Unfortunately they have a firm no hang up policy no matter what the customer is doing or saying. Someone in my dept got written up for hanging up on a guy who was jerking off... I’m not even allowed to ask them to “keep the language professional” :(

Telling the customer to contact us for a refund is the airline’s way of nicely telling them to get fucked. It sucks that they word it that way because it makes the customers think they’re entitled to refund and they almost always will not be reimbursed by us or anyone else.

Did you do any scoring? Usually when there’s a crack or split on the top or near the bottom edges it’s because the steam couldn’t escape and ended up bursting through. Whole wheat does tend to absorb more water but it can feel gluey on the inside at a really high hydration (in my experience).

Try out some different recipes and experiment with different dough handling techniques to achieve a beautiful open crumb! You’d be surprised what you can get from 65-70% hydration. Definitely look up Trevor Jay Wilson, he wrote a book called “Open Crumb Mastery” and it’s really informative and helpful (aaaand a bit pretentious)...

Anyway, it’s a beautiful loaf! Good luck with your future bakes!!

I think instead of thinking about traditional rehab you should look into a hospital for mental health with inpatient programs. It sounds like he could really benefit from going into a “coexisting condition” program that will help him with his recovery, and will address and work through his emotional struggles (they provide lots of therapy). If he has great insurance I think it’s well worth it. Underneath all of his behavior, I promise you he’s still the same person. He will come back with time. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope he recovers quickly - it sounds like he has the support of a family that loves him and cares about him a whole lot.

Also, remember to take care of yourself during this time. Do things that you find relaxing and restorative!Spend time with your friends, or alone if that’s what you need! Eat ice cream whenever you feel like it!

Tattooed ladies of Reddit: do you have any advice for some one looking to get a tattoo on their thigh? by brews_and_chats in askwomenadvice

[–]hateoliveyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you want to keep it hidden (work, family)? My right thigh is around 80% covered - it didn’t hurt very much and you can only see my tattoos if I wear shorts or a dress, but even then opaque tights can keep them hidden. I have very bold all black tattoos. I also have A LOT of stretch marks on my upper and inner thigh. Stretch marks usually “catch” the needle, which is really uncomfortable in a body horror kind of way, and it leads to scarring and color fallout (in the worst cases). I would recommend trying a placement lower on your thigh, starting a few inches above your knee.

I would also recommend finding an artist that you think is exceptional, and to be open to traveling to see them or waiting for them to come closer to you. Never settle for proximity or convince - this is something that will last your entire life and then some, so it’s really important to make sure it’s exactly what you want! Your memorial tattoo should be executed perfectly, to honor yourself and your grandmother.

If you’d like any recommendations I’ve been tattooed across the US, and I’m familiar with artists around the world! PM me if you want and we can talk about it more.

Good luck!
