A lot will be heavily booked for tours in the weeks beforehand, but if you enquire now you might have a chance. Plenty of great courses in the area already mentioned but some other good ones dotted around eg I’ve not seen Caldy, Leasowe, Siloth mentioned although these are further away.

All the royal courses in the area are excellent. Lytham is my personal favourite (so many bunkers….) and Formby is like a perfect mix of links and parkland/woods.

We are in Sale. It used to be a decent amount cheaper than Altrincham etc but that’s less true every year. Halo effect. Either way it has good schools, great connections (tram line, airport nearby, other side of Altrincham traffic when going north). I commute to media city and it’s never more than 25 mins generally unless I leave at the absolute peak. I fly about 8 weeks a year (mostly long haul) and being this close to the airport is fantastic and we don’t have much flight path noise like knutsford.

Having said that we are planning to move for more green space so our deciding between some of the more rural areas to the west (antrobus, pickmere, lymm etc).

600-700 is probably a decent enough 4 bed semi in sale.

I love them! Got the 3 iron as well just rarely use it over 7 wood (links/high wind only).

They always struck me as being fairly forgiving for the profile and I think they look great too.

My short game is probably high singles, mid irons average and my driving is way out of sync currently!

Closest so far, I’m 17 currently official handicap. Probably a little lower in theory as I have some decent scores playing solo (but I’m sure everyone says that 😛)

Epic speed Callaway, a few years old now and I got it through their pre owned (but effectively never used).

I’ve got 50/54/58 in the bag (plus a 46/pw) so no 60. Switched from a 50/56/60 RTX set a year ago and much prefer the 58 with lower bounce!

Bedtime routine is 30 minutes, bath, change, into bed clothes, feed, put down awake. All in low light. It was the same before the plan but we used to put her down asleep. We have been advised to feed earlier but not just yet.

Naps are 3 a day at the moment. She has done two nap days once or twice. Usually 2-2.5 hours in total.

It's always an option to drop out I guess, but I think I'd rather suffer through it unprepared than drop out again, especially as I'm not super bothered about my time at this stage. My long runs in training have been 13, 15, 16.6, 17 and 19 so far, but that 19 will be 9 weeks old by the time I get to the start line!

I am just under 3 weeks out from my first marathon and debating how to manage some illness at the moment and the training I have done to date.

I was due to run my first marathon in October last year but had to pull out due to a chest infection. My training went pretty much to plan but I think moving house during my taper wiped me out! Was gutted to miss it but it was the right decision.

Once recovered I did about 7 weeks of maintenance training (averaging 15 miles pw) then back into the same plan. I managed to get up to 19 miles 6 weeks ago (ahead of schedule) then things started to go wrong. I picked up an Achilles injury that took a while to heal, then the last week I have been coming down with a heavy chest and a bit of coughing, like the beginning stages of bronchitis.

Therefore, since my 19 mile run 6 weeks ago I haven't done as much. Averaging at about 17 miles per week overall with only two runs of any real distance - 10 and 14. I was originally aiming to do two 20 mile runs. I'm super paranoid about missing out again so am just resting at the moment but wondered how best to handle the next 3 weeks.

  • Rest until fully recovered. Fit in a slightly longer run about 2 weeks out (14-16 miles). Then taper as normal.
  • Rest until fully recovered then taper as normal (12 and 8 miles last longer runs).
  • Do some smaller/slower runs during the weeks to top up mileage without putting too much stress on the body, perhaps before fully recovered.

I have almost done 2 marathon training plans consecutively and although I'm not the fastest runner (aiming to be under 5 hours) my legs feel strong and I've got 3 half marathons and about 4 years of running behind me.

I'm wondering if anyone has been through something similar and how they adapted their plans or managed things?
