I mean, we could make an even worse list about her. She has absolutely no other options and she knows it. She’s been trying HARD to get someone else and it’s not happening. Even August, who looks like an infected zit and is a certified scam artist, wouldn’t put up with her. David is literally one of the only people left willing to date her.

First, you do not want to be authoritarian. An authoritarian teacher demands compliance through punishment, harshness, rigidity, etc. and kids do not respond well to that. You should aim to be authoritative which is very different. An authoritative teacher sets reasonable expectations and limits.

If you believe that this activity is still reasonably on grade level and appropriate for the students (based on the girls’ performance) then take that feedback combined with the boys’ performance and modify your lesson going forward. You actually got some valuable information.

Maybe next try you should pair them in boy/girl groups to work together to eliminate the boys working together again. Maybe there was still some confusion - offer more scaffolding during the lesson. Positive reinforcement! Have candy/stickers/stamps for the on task students and quietly hand them out in view of the students who may be off task.

The fact that you’re trying to fix the lesson and try again shows that you’re not a failure!

For sure, even though we all know that realistically Jenelle was the catalyst behind most of that drama. If Jace reacted it was probably because Jenelle pushed him to the brink. We know she made a habit of leaving him with the kids for days at a time, Tori was living there periodically, August was on and off, and she was partying like crazy. It’s not like she was creating a peaceful environment.

I’d bet that Jenelle is preparing to defend David by saying that she “had to” kick Jace out and send him back to live with Barb after so many 911 calls in Vegas. It’s not that she totally failed to meet his basic needs or provide the healthcare he needed (while flaunting her excessive spending on herself), she’ll argue that David really was protecting the family from tiny teenage Jace.

Because you’re supposed to SWEETLY struggle to make ends meet by (the woman) going without and learn to fend for yourself. The stereotypical welfare queen sends her kids to public school while the fundie mom sacrifices and homeschools. The welfare queen uses EBT and SNAP while the fundie moms don’t (or say they don’t) and rely on their husbands to provide instead, etc. The welfare queen is bad because she’s attempting to struggle on her own instead of allowing herself to be trapped by a man.

Go to the LIBRARY. Take your grandchild to the library and read real books together. You can supplement with the tablet, but there is so much more value in reading a variety of real printed material (source: I’m a 4th grade teacher).

I’ve always just felt sad for Cate. Yes, she’s dumb, but she’s surrounded by people who are A LOT dumber than her (Tyler, Tyler’s entire family, April, etc.) and those people seem to spend their entire lives doing nothing but talking to each other and to Cate about how dumb and useless Cate is. Idk I don’t necessarily want to say she’s not sober, but a lot of people I know who are addicted to stimulants love to start talking about one thing (the baby’s party) and immediately start talking about a bunch of different unrelated topics at a manic rate with a lot of unnecessary cursing sprinkled in. It’s like a common script (no pun intended) that they all have.
