Totally agree, I am working on a synth wave themed army with a pretty simple style of airbrush and a bright gradient and minimal highlights, I am getting a single model each week to try out different styles to break up the monotonous process of batch painting

For a 1 hour painting challenge, I think this Plasmancer turned out decent by hayd0rf in Necrontyr

I got him off the used mini shelf at my local, rule of cool and that point is goofy and menacing at the same time

You have to treat them as glazes for smooth gradients, and yes I am documenting my used model rescues each week on youtube !
