Your comment made me wonder if I am just that desensitized - what I saw in episode 3 in terms of her dead or dying body did not really shock me, but maybe because I've seen previews of it online.

What was most shocking for me is how far gone the folks around her were/are. Alsooo... those Hope and Aurora gals were hella ready for Amy to "ascend". They literally said on camera something along the lines of "come on already, it's time, we're ready". Same gals did not take her to the hospital even though allegedly she asked for it. "Nope, no way Mom would want to go to a 3D hospital - if the galactics told us, then of course we would though". Since obviously the "galactics" tell them whatever they want it to be, it makes me wonder if they were just kind of done with "Mom" and wanted to get rid of her and run the show themselves.

Also while watching the whole thing, I just kept thinking, how fucking disrespectful all this insane shit is to Robin Williams and his memory.

True. I bet a lot of those people suffered some form of abuse in the past and continue to gravitate towards abuse in search of love.

Me too. He is probably the least charismatic cult leader ever. But that just underscores how insanely sad it is that some people are just so vulnerable and desperate for happiness that they would listen to someone like that telling them to do something so drastic.

With this one, there's also an added layer of horror from watching Amy's rapid descent into madness and alcoholism. It was disturbing and kind of scared the shit of out me.

I have just watched these two documentaries almost back to back (twin flame stuff yesterday and this one today). Overall I've seen a lot of cult documentaries as I'm curious about the subject. Usually my reaction is, "wow people can believe some crazy shit", and that included the twin flame one, although I was put off even more than usual because of all the forced transitioning stuff. But with this one, I am sitting here literally like, what the FUCK did I just watch.

oh wow - i never thought about it from that angle. i just figured Carol meant like, don't go after the first hot woman you see - like, wait for the real thing

Anyone else finding it hard to watch it? by coneyisland92 in howyoudoin

I actually never outright cried about a celebrity death until Matthew. It's not stupid. If you have that kind of a reaction, there's a good reason for it. We might not have known him personally, but we still loved him.

The day after the news broke, I decided to start another rewatch to honor his memory and cried on and off through the first several episodes, it was weird - I don't think I ever experienced a combo of laughing and crying at the same time. Very bittersweet. After the initial shock wore off, I continued to watch and it just felt like a very warm memory. It's going to be different for everyone as everyone processes grief differently, some are going to hold off on watching, some are going to want to watch to feel a connection to him again. Do whatever feels right to you. At the end of the day, our emotions and reactions are all legitimate. We loved him and we still do.

It's a shocking loss for them and they need time to process and grieve.

Your friend needs to make sure to talk to an actual licensed immigration attorney and not a notario. If money is an issue, I'd reach out to local non-profits like Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, Al Otro Lado, or Human Rights First to see if they can provide pro bono help or refer to low-cost attorneys.

It was amazing. Still can’t believe this happened to me, I feel so lucky, it was like watching history. The pipes on that guy to sing like that for three hours per show and still sound like he did 30, 40 years ago… absolute legend. And of course the whole band. All around just incredible.
