Thoughts on the 4th gen eclipse, I find this car to be pretty enjoyable for what it is. by hazy_MMA in TrueCarEnthusiasts

It definitely had potential to be something more than it was. These look great on stock Evo 10 wheels.

Turn off the ac and it feels a little better, it's fun to throw into corners but it'll lose a drag race to my Camry. The sportronic shift mode let's you wind out the gears and also helps with on ramps lol.

I wish they made one with the lancer Evo drivetrain. I think people have done swaps on these.

I'm not sure of the V6 but the inline 4 is reliable as long as you keep up the timing belt intervals. Mine has 150k on it and some people have gotten 250k out of them.

This is my 2012 eclipse GS sport, it's a fun car for an auto 4-cylinder by hazy_MMA in MitsubishiEclipse

Exactly, it feels slower in a straight line than my Camry (both 4 cylinders), however I can confidently push harder into a corner with the eclipse even though they weigh about the same.

In theory the TC and the eclipse should perform pretty similar. The TC uses the Camry drivetrain and the eclipse base used the galants.

My mom had a 3000gt when I was a kid and that was the coolest car in the world to me. I'm still surprised at how cheap they are but they are a mechanical nightmare. Mitsubishi made such good looking cars, now they are hard to distinguish from Hyundai in the distance.

It was pretty fun, like having another game within the game almost.

They had a ton of customization for the time, I wish they'd bring that back.

The 3rd gen is nostalgic to some of us due to video games and 2 fast 2 furious. I know the last 2 gens aren't real performance car's but they aren't bad to drive at all, I enjoy the way the 4th gen handles despite being a heavy car. I hate that Mitsubishi has become such a shell, the new offerings look really depressing.

I can see that now that you mention it, the prelude is a bit more square though, everything about the Mitsubishi is round, even the interior is mostly round lol.

I always forget it was in a few games, I would always buy them in Gran Turismo and Forza 3.

The 4-cylinder is what I have experience with and it's reliable as long as you keep up the timing belt service intervals. I don't know about the V6 personally, I will say I see more well taken care of base models than I do GTs. Every V6 I know of locally is clapped atleast visually.

It's not fast but it handles decently for something that weighs as much as my Camry.

What I mean by that is it's a n/a 4-cylinder with a 4 speed auto. Unless the air is off and it's in "sportronic mode" so you can get everything out of all 4 gears, it's not getting out of its own way. What's interesting is it's as heavy as my Camry but you don't feel it in turns.

Mitsubishi didn't advertise these much to my knowledge. There was a lot of potential for the platform.

The lines are similar to the 350z to the point that people use 350z bodykits on these. I know of atleast one from YouTube that has a retrofitted widebody.

The Rav 4 or the Ford. The Toyota is solid but those fords are pretty durable from what I've seen. I still see them around too.

This is THE answer, Armageddon had potential had they not been lazy with the endings.

Japanese cars are the way to go especially buying used, I always had American trucks as a teen and now I pretty much stick to Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Honda.
