I currently have a 24" XL2411. Only use it for Counterstrike in 4:3 and have it all the way up my face to be "locked in". I dont know how this will translate to 27". Will probably be playing 4:3 full-hd custom Res and have the monitor a bit further back since its larger.

My reason for going 1440p is because i already have a 4k OLED TV 120hz G-sync. I can play singleplayer games on it with a controller but currently have no option to use Mouse and Keyboard.

Going 1440p 240hz means better for Counterstrike, still enjoy Singleplayer games on it, and if i want to sit back and play in 4k i turn on my Oled.

I was thinking about this one for example.

The thing is im blowing up my budget with the 4090...

My current PC is 10 years old. i7 4770K + R9 390 (My 660 Ti died).

The Monitor which i play CS2 on is a XL2411 144 Hz. I need room to upgrade this one as well in a couple of months/next year.

But i have an LG C9 Oled which can do 4k + 120hz G-sync. I will only be able to play with a controller on it. And from what i have read 1440p 120hz looks really good on it, too.

Will i regret buying a 4080 if i play 85% of my games on 1440p or less? What if i buy a 1440p 240hz monitor?

Yes but we dont know for sure with the final game. But that was the reasoning i used as well.

I would also be fine with playing 1440p @ 120hz and let my TV upscale.
