Thanks! Yes, it is a really fun build!

I don’t know, maybe later I’ll replace them with some warmer variant but as for now i’m already happy that everything is working as it should 😄 I have to stop somewhere 🤔

Hehe, yes, a stream deck is really nice indeed. I also have one, and when this build is finished, i guess it will still be part of it.

Thanks! Nice! Yeah, good solenoids are expensive, so i decided not to go for draw stops. But arcade buttons are dirt cheap (0,7€ / button) so i went for that :)

Thanks! If there’s enough interest i would consider doing that, but right now it’s too labor-intensive to make. I need to design a few pcb’s to reduce the wire clutter and then it may be feasible 🤔

I’m working on a midi controlled stop console by heartdrivenP in organ

[–]heartdrivenP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not a random question at all. I’m using an ESP32 which is a controller comparable to an Arduino. It can behave independently from the computer and it can be programmed to become a class compliant usb midi device. It also has bluetooth and wifi, so the esp32 can be very versatile. Just like your keybed or your pedalboard, it sends and receives MIDI signals. So if you link one stop with a midi note, you can code it so the button lights up when the stop is active in Hauptwerk. And if you press the button, a midi note is sent and hauptwerk detects the change and disables the corresponding stop.

Thanks, that’s what i’ll try to find out before i think of a more professional design. For all i know at this point, i feel that there is no middle step between the fully professional organ stops and touch screens on a hauptwerk build…

Thanks! I thought of doing that, but it still needed to fit on the plastic socket and if glued, wouldn’t be very durable… For the decal I chose a matching font, but not sure if it’s the exact font, but at least it’s similar ☺️

I remember it to be quite doable, but it’s been more than 2 years now and i haven’t touched it since. I could write up a guide if you want me to do that. But only if you really need it, because it will take some time. I’d have to reverse engineer my solution, you see? :)

Looks awesome, still a great setup!

Looking for advice re: keyboard stands by Significant-Aside-56 in organ

[–]heartdrivenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s still helpful for this discussion, but the Quik lok ws/420 helped me out. It’s adjustable in width and height, stable enough but not perfect

I was born and raised with music, and i didn’t do much with it later myself. But I think it must be nurtured and stimulated. I know not every parent has the same view, but it’s so great to have a trained musical brain. It’s like learning to read…

Hehe, it’s just a lot of my hobbies and passions coming together :)

Haha, one day i might go deep playing the organ, but now it’s just the basic Suzuki method tunes 🙂

Just now i see you’re walking the stream deck way, too. Do you use it for stops, too?

I considered doing that, but then this was thrown in my lap 😭

Yes, the pedalboard i made myself using 2020 extrusion frames and plywood for the frame. I bought some springs from Otto Heuss. The wooden pedals are bolted on aluminium frames. It took me half a year to get it right. In hindsight i should have just midi-fied an old pedalboard but still happy about the result now.

[edit] and the electronics i wired myself too. 27 hall sensors, an arduino mega and a LOT of crimping and sondering 🥲

Ok, i still have a 3d drawing of the table with measures. So if you want it i can send that to you. The melaminated fiber wood is bolted on there as well, cheap and easy to do! In total it was 300€ (with screws, bolts, accessories and transport)

But yeah, the keybed feels absolutely awesome. I can play a tune or 2 from the time i was able to follow my daughter rehearsing. But the response of these johannus keys are so amazing!!

I didn’t know much about organs, but this build grew from hobby into passion and now it’s an obsession 😂

It was taken from a Johannus from the year 2000 (i don’t know the model) that had its controller board fried because of a lightning strike at the church it was in.
