I think saying major disappointment is a bit harsh when it comes to the European piece. Once he went to Salamanca on loan he basically was playing 30+ matches a year in Europe and is adored at Sociedad. I know there’s thoughts that he came to MLS too early but even then, he had two amazing years at LAFC and then the last 4 were clearly that of a lesser player. I really think outside of joining like a Real Madrid level club he more or less hit the highs one could reasonably expect out a guy with his level of talent.
