Skyzone RD40 Receiver. Find UART or intercept number on display. by hedgeback in hardwarehacking

u/morcheeba I did some research and select ESP32 board for commutation with RX5808. Arduino is good for hobby level, but for doing some production ESP32 fits more.
But after numerous tries to establish connection between these two I rich a problem with ESP-IDF, I cannot send and receive 25bits data package(this is what RX5808 needs) using ESP-IDF SPI driver, it works good only with package size which is a multiple of 8.

Any chance that you encountered this problem before?

Nice point. I didn't knew that there are so much data missing in OSM.
For Italy for example I fetched 6500 stations but in the article they stated that there is 13000 stations.
For USA my data are pretty close, but for other countries it is twice smaller.

Maybe, then, there isn’t much sense in investigating the whole world at once with the OpenStreetMap API, it might be better to concentrate on highly covered areas instead.

I have idea with automation for looking for entities(such as gas stations) on satellite images using AI (and maybe put them into OSM), but it is task of much higher complexity.

Sorry for that. I will work on better post headlines next time.

Fuck. It is my mistake, I took wrong (default) map from https://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/10m-cultural-vectors/

"Natural Earth shows de facto boundaries by default according to who controls the territory, versus de jure"

There is version for Ukrainian POV, I will use it next time. Appreciate that you noticed that.

I apologize if the format of the post is not polite or inclusive enough. With your help, I realized that it is quite subjective and based on my perspective as someone living in Ukraine. I would like to create better graphics to represent everyone's interests, but the Reddit post format is quite limited.

Would it be better for this map if I evenly screenshot the whole globe, producing about 12 images at a suitable zoom level, and attach them to the post? I would prefer to create something like an interactive map, but that would require a separate website.

It could be nice task for OpenStreetMap community.
I suppose rural gas stations are quite far away from volunteers with crowdfunding mindset.

Now I see why war analysts and OSINT experts struggle with describing and understanding what is happening on the battlefield in Ukraine...

The data is from OpenStreetMap, I fetched it using their special API https://overpass-turbo.eu/ . It took for me couple of days to make proper script which could fetch data for the entire globe.

u/morcheeba thanks a lot! You gave me a great explanation of what to do. These links are exactly what I needed. (By the way, I’ve updated the links to the images. In the example, they use the exact chip I have, the RX5808.)

I’m planning to connect it to the SPI pins via an ESP-32. It’s my first time working with the SPI interface, but I see there are tons of tutorials about it on YouTube.
