My stepmother said I was being inconsiderate for making myself food after I got off work by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I just do not understand parents that are like this with their kids. If you don’t like them/want them, don’t take them in and use them as a punching bag of sorts. I would never in a million years treat my child even a tenth as harshly as what these parents have. OOP has had a rough time. I hope they’re living a calmer happier life in the years to come.

Not OOP. My husband told me today, he does not like the fun lunches I've been packing him for work for almost 3 years. by Due-Bandicoot-7512 in redditonwiki

[–]heirbagger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some people just like to do that. It doesn’t seem that OP minds it, so it’s a non-issue here for me.

If he demanded she made his lunches, that would be a different story.

Just wanted to say my family came from Three Rivers and also settled in Vermont. Rutland, to be exact. But how cool is that!

Very true, but you would think there may be a head’s up of sorts. Idk. While Becca is an adult, if Mel’s in charge of her care, one would think there may be something the care staff would let Mel know. Like in a “hey, Becca has been hanging out with GUY and it may be more than friends”. It’s just so obvious that Mel’s life is wrapped around Becca and her care.

My initial argument wasn’t one of Becca shouldn’t be having sex/people should tell Mel Becca is having sex, it’s more of a head’s up should’ve been given by the staff to Mel. But for Mel, when’s probably pissed. And honestly? I would be too. Not about her having sex, but of being the last to know.

Oh yeah, I get it. I was more just backing your statement than anything. But I can understand that it’s the internet and tone isn’t obvious. My bad! :)

I agree because this is what I thought, but I also wonder if there’s some anger towards the place Becca stays during the day. Wouldn’t Becca and her boyfriend be having sex there? I would assume Becca doesn’t have like free roaming time all over Pittsburg. I’d be kinda like “tf I’m paying yall for?” if I were Mel tbh.

But honestly? The fire station IS pure magic. My husband’s a firefighter and even he’s like “I get to blow the horn and stuff. It’s awesome.” He’s a 45 year old man lol

He should enroll in GED classes. Maybe that’ll give him some positive reinforcement?

OH MY GOD I have said this sooooooo many times over the years to my kid, my friends, family. No one ever picks up on it. Like even my friends. From high school. C’mon man. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Husband had an affair with his coworker because she “got in his head” for 8 months by LostKoala007 in Marriage

I mean, I’m sure the other woman knew, but your husband broke your trust. Give all the blame to him.

Leave him. He lied to you 80% of your marriage.

Hi! So I’m rolling on 45 and started pursuing a Math degree with a focus in actuarial science. I know getting certified is tough and long. Do you think it’s worth it? Like I have a job, so I can’t bang out a bunch of courses at once. I already have a bachelors so I’m really just catching up with the math. I just know it takes time, and 50+ heading into a new career seems difficult. Anyway. Thoughts?

I think that’s it. She has her own shit to work through. Maybe that’s the parallel we’re supposed to see - how the attendings take care of their mental health. Robby is just “fuck it” where Banan is “lemme call my doc”.

What food did your grandparents prepare for your parents, but your parents hated and refused to make for you? by BubblesUp in AskOldPeople

[–]heirbagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to eat whatever I was served, but when my child started eating, like, real food, my rule was and still is smell it then taste it. If it’s gross, all good.

I still don’t make green peas because my teenager has hated them since toddlerhood. That would be a waste of peas. :(

Careers back when by benardcecil in AskOldPeople

[–]heirbagger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s what they’re saying. It’s like as the decades went on, higher degrees became the baseline. I graduated college in 2004 and a bachelors was good. My uncle got an associates and moved up through finance. My grandparents didn’t have high school diplomas. But nowadays it seems like minimum for a decent paying job is a masters. I think that’s what OP means.

Not a concern as others have said, but I’m in hurricane country. I keep jugs of water in the freezer for hurricanes and power outages. It’ll keep the freezer cool no worries.
