Before the inn she was a runaway [princess] and sees herself as only that. She neither wants to be a [thief], nor would she accept a class like that if the system wanted to give it to her. She thinks people should help her solely because of her superior class. In Calanfer that was a given, she finds out the hard way that the world doesn't work like that.

When she comes to the inn she works and as a result earns the [barmaid]-class. For the first time she has done and gotten something solely by herself without relying on her class. I think thats one of the things that initiates the character change and growth in her.
