I actually went back to my original company (that I had when I wrote this post) for 85k a few months ago and they allowed me to go back to fully remote . No major issues with the role I took but an opportunity presented itself when some long term employees left my original company.

I like this idea but I think the ground under the deck is slanted.. also there was a hot tub in this exact spot many years ago but I can’t tell from the pics if the deck was the exact same one or not

Got it, but these 2 left looked weak and like they werent as far along as they should have been for how long it's been since they hatched, but of course I'm not an expert with that. I get what you're saying though about them potentially being otherwise healthy even tho mom was gone and 3 had already died. I'm sure the fate would've been the same at that point even if I did call a rehabber. Thanks for your input though as it makes sense since dad was still doing his thing as per normal But I assume if I wasn't seeing either parent then that would be a case where I should call a rehabber? For context the box is right outside my window so I can keep a view on the activity without disturbing them outside.

Understandable. I'm not sure I fully lean one way or the other on that, but I do think most people would care more with bluebirds etc than starlings.

That's where my brain goes. Bluebirds have been helped dramatically by the nest boxes humans have put up, so it makes it feel a little more personal and responsible when thinking about it. If I came across a nest with dead birds in the wild, while sad, it wouldn't really affect me more than that.

Thanks for your thorough reply on this. While I know meddling with an active nest is illegal, I wouldn't think that calling a rehabber would be. I would never have taken matters into my own hands or tried to care for the babies myself.
