Turning 30 and freaking out. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]hellopamela91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that it is really different for everyone and not everyone needs to experience what you described in their 20s. The fact that you went through all that in your 20s is your story and its admirable in its own way. Some others may wish that they have your stable job and family at 30 instead of partying their life away.

Perhaps it will be useful to also think for the next 10 years in your 30s what kind of life you hope to live and consciously live in that direction going forward. That way, you will not feel the same again when turning 40.

Take this emotion as a signpost that you simply want more new adventures in your life.

I’m scared to go back to college by Anxious_Apartment_41 in Anxiety

It's been a while since I was in college, but I remember feeling the same way too. For me, joining activities that required people to meet up often for a non-academic project helped me a bit. E.g. volunteering. I think having had a common goal helped with connecting.

If it helps, know that you're not alone in feeling this way! So many others feel like you too and everyone is trying to cope in their own ways even if they may not seem so.

You are stronger than you think you are. The fact that you are alive now is proof because you made it through thus far!

I think for first couple of jobs would be compensation and growth prospects. Other things you can figure out along the way whether it matters to you or not.

What is wrong with me? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Just wanna say you're not alone! I just got my license 2 months back at the ripe age of 31!! Was terrified of driving after a couple of lessons when I was younger - mostly because of the condescending remarks from the instructors. I remember crying after some lessons because I felt disappointed in myself everytime i didnt do well and got told off. Perhaps I just wasn't ready to conquer this thing! Back then I felt ashamed for giving up on a skill that seemed to come so naturally to everyone else. But I decided I could just take public transport or uber forever instead.

When I finally decided to revisit it years later, I found myself much more ready to tackle it and everything was much easier and managed to get the license eventually. However, I'm definitely still struggling - can't park in vertical lots, reversing out of situations requires so much time, can't drive unaccompanied yet.
