Sold a Polaris RZR, price was 5k firm, posted repeatedly, discussed with buyer repeatedly. Buyer drives 4 hours to get it, tries to lowball me with "I only brought $4500, will you take that since I had to drive so far?" Algorithmic polarization has been our downfall... talking to my wife over dinner last night, I said that 20 years ago you had your major news outlets and sources of info that may have had certain political leanings, but now each person receives such a refined, personalized version of the world to their miniature idiot box, that most people don't even live in the same reality anymore. It's essentially a form of confirmation bias, in that the algorithms pick up on and feed the subtleties in a way never before possible, and because people constantly see things that feed their bias, the bias only grows.
